Senior Guinea Pig
Its been a long few days since Thursdays fall out and Friday's trip to the vet but the hutch has been converted from a 2 storey piggy palace to two 1 storey piggy apartments. My wonderful and very handy OH took the mesh off one door and fitted some tongue and groove boarding in it's place, plus added a board on the inside so it matches the top floor (and even lifted it off the ground enough for me to get the fleece under!) and gives them a dark, very sheltered sleeping area. We took out the ramp (I did that bit myself... aren't I clever!) and the OH fitted a piece of wood into the gap making sure it was well secured so fat Pete can't fall through 
Isobel and Bumble moved into the ground floor apartment yesterday and Isobel produced some zoomies to show her appreciation of the work. Jemima on the other hand did not look impressed at only having one floor and kept going to where the ramp used to start I did tell her... if you want to be an asbo pig... you'll only be allowed one floor to be the queen of!

I did a similar thing myself with two double decker hutches. I just took out the top floor with the hole, and replaced it with the bottom floor. The bottom floor was redundant. The piggies in them eventually moved inside, and I used the mesh grids from the doors to make a dividing partition in the pig-room.
