Table for c&c csge

I have a stacked 5x2 c&c cage but I'm finding accessing the bottom level difficult for cleaning and general maintaince and I wanted a table I can put one 5x2 cage on top and one under neath the table as it would be easier to drag out along carpet and sit and clean instead of bending on all fours! The cheapest wood I have found is MDF which still does have a bit of a price tag to it but Ive read it needs to be 18mm? And I can attach 4 table legs? Also Id need to be able to account the connectors in my measurements so the one c&c fits underneath. Has anyone done this DIY and found it works well?

I'd use some 2x1" timber from Wickes (Wickes Whitewood PSE Timber - 18mm x 44mm x 2.4m | Wickes.co.uk) or local timber merchant and build a frame then add on some legs, again probably 2x1" timber maybe with some cross braces for support, then screw MDF top down to the timber frame, this way the timber takes the weight and supports the MDF so you can use 9mm or 6mm MDF which is about £15 to £20 a sheet. If you draw what you want on a bit of paper local timber merchant will probably cut it to the right sizes too (maybe even for free if you ask nicely) then all you need todo is screw and glue it all together. I reckon about £50 all in in raw unfinished form, if you want it painted add £30 for a small tin of primer and a tin of paint.

I recently did a similar task to make an IKEA Kallax unit deeper to house my pigs on top of. The Kallax unit is only 39cm deep but needed 75cm for a 2x4 C&C cage so built a 36cm deep box out of 2x1" timber and then put a 9mm MDF top over the top of the Kallax unit and the box I built. Worked great.

Sadly I cant do DIY very well or I would have considered this I did think of a frame but I was quoted £200

I used linamon tables from ikea. I did have trouble keeping the grids in place. If I did that again I would tack or stick some wood on the table top outside the grids.

I had these when I had my setups on table but I can't fit a 5x2 underneath
