Hi there, it's me again.

Rather then ask this in my update post I'd thought I'd make a separate thread in the housing section.
We are upgrading to a 6x2 c&c with loft but having trouble finding something to put it on! Currently they're in a ferplast with the accompanying stand with all the 'equipment' stored underneath.
I have looked at the c&c 'stands' that are sold along side the cages and not only are they too short (my partner is 6"5 and we're planning on getting a dog in the next year) but the area for storage is far too limited.

I was originally thinking of something like a painters table or whatever they're called? But thought I would ask you lovely people as you collectively seem to be very creative with your housing ideas. The storage underneath is a must, we have nowhere else to store hay, food, etc.

You will probably have to go make your own with a cage that big! I made a table out of planks of wood but a piece of MDF and some nice legs would also do nicely! Here is ours we went for shorter legs but you can get lots under there!image.webp

My c&c (when it was just the boys) was on a stand made from the grids. I used the space underneath to store the piggie’s things in IKEA cloth box things that go with their shelves.

You can kind of see it in the photo below. I don’t seem to have any others.

The ikea tables are probably the single most popular and cheapest option, but I had my 5x3 on an old dining table. It had plenty of room underneath for storage.
You could try looking or advertising on Freegle or Freecycle for a table. Or on a local for sale/wanted FB page - my son acquired a dining table for his man cave that way!

You might be able to pick up a cheap 2nd hand bed frame, and convert that. I've got ours on a mid-height cabin bed base, and it fits 5 by 2.5 grids, with an extension one end, making it L shaped, onto a small table, fitting 2 by 2 grids. I could do with it being a bit lower, as have to use a step when cleaning - but it has nearly a meter of space below for all the guinea pig stuff - hay, litter stuff, blankets, pellets, toys, hidies etc. Great for storage :-)

We have a 2x6 c&c too and bought 2x ikea melltorp tables second hand Eur 10 each which are perfect. Sold in the UK too. They would even just fit a 2x7. We cable tied the legs of the two tables tightly together. It’s a little on the high side for me to clean but we have a dog too and my husband is just shy of 2m tall so works well all things considered and love all the space undeneath.

We have our cage on top of Ikea Besta units. It’s deeper than the units, but it’s on top of a plywood base to support the overhang, if that makes sense. You can also use Stuva units which are a bit deeper. More expensive than just a table, but fantastic storage! We’ve got lots of guinea pig things in the cupboards, and also records and board games/kids stuff.
