We ll on Saturday when i was cleaning out the herd i noticed that Minnie had a bit of a graze to the side of her face. I thought that maybe she had caught it on something as i have never seen any of my herd fight or squabble with each other.

The next day i was at work so i asked my daughter Megs to check them all out while she was feeding them and she noticed that Sophie's nose did not look right and when i came home and checked it out it appears like there is a layer of scaly skin over the top of her nose.

I have now isolated both Minnie and Sophie and have decided that a trip to the vets for some sort of diagnosis would be the best idea before i start treating for mites as i am not yet convinced thats what it is.

The rest of the herd all appear to be fine with no grazes or scaly skin or hair loss.

I have just got a new piggy Blossom from Hunnybunnies and i am hoping to introduce her very soon, however i need to make sure all is well with my herd first.

My appointment is at 10.30am today so i will let you all know when i get back. Fingers crossed xx

Just wanted to say goodluck for the vets. We have had both 1 case of mites and 1 case of fungal face patches in amongst my boys in recent weeks and it has been a worrying time but now they are mending and hair almost normal again. So hopefully fairly easily fixed once you know what you are dealing with. :)

Hope all goes well at the vets, let us know how you get on..

Hi it was not too bad at the vets for the 2 girls. Its definately not mites, but i think that Minnie has cut the side of her face as i have been putting fungal treatment on it and its not making any difference. Whereas Sophie had a fungal infection on her nose and since i have been treating that there is a definate improvement. They are both re-cooping on the lawn at the moment where they can still see the rest of the herd, they live indoors overnight and they should soon be reunited with the herd. xx

Good to hear that it is not ringworm! that would have been a real nightmare!
