taking in my friends last guinea pig

Going on from the vet visit that the previous owner did.
I was not happy with the diagnosis.
Victoria visited the exotic vet yesterday.
She had small ovarian cysts ,and she does have a urine infection which has been cultured. The previous vet stated because there was no protein in the urine could not have a urine infection, this is why I don't like taking my piggies to a non guinea pig specialist.
An ultrasound was performed to rule out stones, check for ovarian cysts.
Stated on septrin for a urine infection.only treat the cysts if causes problems.
My friend she would not spend anymore than £200 on a guinea pigs vet bills.as we know just run of the mill things can cost £200.
She is willing to spend £100 a week in dog food.it makes me feel irritated.i do understand that we don't have never ending purse, but it's annoying when a dog, cat,is seen as a bigger worth being than a guinea pig.

Couldn't agree more. People seem to think that dogs and cats deserve better care than guinea pigs. I hope that Victoria makes a full recovery. Well done for getting her the correct diagnosis.xx❤️

It annoys me that these amazing little creatures are still seen as throwaway children's pets. They are living, breathing animals just like a dog or a cat that you can form a strong bond with and should be treated with just the same amount of respect and value that dogs and cats do.

A lady that lives around the corner who was walking her dog once said to me "have you got rid of your guinea pigs and got a dog yet?" I thought that was very rude of her. I said "Not I haven't!" and walked off. I wonder what her reaction would have been if I'd replied "I see you haven't got rid of your dog yet in favour of guinea pigs" I didn't because I'm not rude.

I’m so pleased Victoria is living with you now. She’s going to have an amazing life ❤️

Thank goodness you trusted your instincts and experience and got Victoria seen by the exotics vet. I wish her a speedy recovery.
I, too, find it so disappointing that anyone would put a cap on the cost of vet treatment based in species. They are all living beings. Each life matters equally to me. And to the rest of us on this forum.

Thank goodness you took Victoria to the exotics vet! Get well soon little one - you are worth every penny. The world would be a better place if there were more people like those on this forum!

Have only just seen this thread so am a little late to the party! How lovely Victoria has joined your piggies. I hope her bladder infection clears up quickly and her cysts don't become an issue.
