I was wondering if its sensible to reduce the fleecy furniture for the summer months now and put more wooden and cardboard things in the cage instead?

It just occured to me while brushing out my double-layered fleecy padded giant cuddle cube that its a bit like a ski suit and not really appropriate for the weather!

What does everyone else do?

I leave a mixture of both in.
Even on hot days I find some of my piggies will still choose a fleece cuddle cup over a wooden house (or a nice cooling tile that I bought at a slightly ridiculous price becasue I thought it would be lovely, and no except Eddi ever set a single paw on it).

We only have three in for our girls and the sticks so they tend to use what they feel. Sometime widget is like a ball of sweaty fluff on some days in the fleece cubes

I am just about to make some more fleecy items - Pippin loves to lay on the tunnel and not in the tunnel! I don't use a fleece house or cube in their cage tho, wooden bridge and boxes..

I do the same thing. They seem to not mind as long as its not boiling where their cage is.

I think it’s less important to remove fleece houses than it is to remove plastic ones as they retain heat and act like a sweat box. I use a mix of fleece houses and arches and tunnels to encourage air flow in the cages

We've never had any plastic houses or furniture at all (since poor Theo arrived last June with his sad selection of accessories which featured no entertainment but barbie pink plastic things that he'd knawed to bits out of boredom) but I did decide to order a new 18-inch wooden 2-storey castle house (plus new custom fleecy pee pads to go on the upper deck) to provide an extra airy fleecy resting place and a shady well ventilated underneath area with 2 doorways for the summer to replace the thick padded cuddle cube! They already have one wooden castle house but it only really fits 1 pig on top and 2 underneath so another one at the other end of the cage will probably be appreciated :)
