Do any of you take your piggies with you if you are say staying at friend/parents/relatives home for the night?

Would this cause stress to the piggies travelling? It would not be done on a regular basis, but sometimes I spend the whole day at my mums and then stay over, she only lives 15 mins away. When I have stayed overnight in the past it just means I have to pop back home in the morning to feed piggies and pop them in their larger play pen, taking them with me would mean there's no rush home and the flexibility to stay an extra night :))

I have a good sized play pen that is easily transportable and easily set up in the garden and then put in the bedroom overnight on towels & fleeces.

We live in Lancashire and our families live in Nottingham. We go and visit them once a month or so. I always take the pigs with me and they are fine. I have a carrier that I transport them in and my mum and dad have a cage in their shed that the pigs stay in when we go.

I wouldn't have thought a 15 minute journey would be too stressful...unless you drive like me! hehe.

I've taken mine to my mums twice now which is just over an hours drive away. The cage they were in at the time just fitted across the back seat so I strapped it in and put a blanket over it. I'm pretty sure they didn't even know we were travelling.

They might enjoy their piggy-holiday, especially if they are spoilt by their grandma :))

We used to take my two guinea pigs with us for our regular weekend trips and Christmasses at my mother-in-law's in Wales. That was a 2 hour journey, and the piggies got very used to it.

Fifteen minutes is no problem, but give your piggies time and space to settle and adjust for the first few times; they will get used to the routine.

thanks everyone - I think we might have a trial run this weekend :<>:<>
