I have noticed that the Green pepper is being left which is really not what I need when Tallulah needs all the Vit C she can get due to her teeth (nothing too bad but they are on an angle - nothing that should stop her eating).

Anyway when I put her veg down she would usually along with Gypsey gobble up the corriander but she didnt seem too fased by it at first as was just sniffing all the piles and walking round...she has eaten some but do you think I have much to worry about ? She is eating hay and pellets normal although I will keep an eye on this also now.

She is having Baytril for having a bad nose, what was thought to be some sort of sinus infection. Thats now cleared up for that and I think she is on the mend, just confused with the change in eating habits.

Have you tried red, yellow or orange pepper? I find they taste nicer so maybe piggies do too? If you really want her to eat it then why don't you give it to her on its own first thing in the morning and wait and see if she'll eat it if there's nothing better there!

If she gets lots of veggies then I'm sure she gets plenty of vitamin C.

My pigies often scoff their other veg and leave the peppers. Particularly when I give them herbs. One of my piggies used to love carrot but now wont touch it. Maybe its just like humans and their taste buds change..

No I havent because she has diabetes so they arent really good for her due to the sugar in it. Its catch 22 right now though because she needs Vit C but then cant have too many carrots either because of diabetes.
She wont eat it if we hand it to her - it is the veg thats left till last but its always eaten, now its not. I've cut their other food down to encourage them eating it but its still there =/

Maybe. Both of them arent eating it now though which is weird. She was just looking picky with everything tonight though like she didnt want any of it, but then was forced to munch some corriander - maybe she is just fed up with it all just worrying given her teeth too, but like the vet said they arent bad enough to cause serious problems yet but we were trying to increase her Vit C to help.

What about syringing her a vitamin C tablet? Also remember Vit C is in Pellets too, but I can understand your concern with them not eating salad!

I might be wrong but I thought that fresh veg like lettuces, herbs, etc. still had vitamin C in it, just not as much as peppers or oranges or whatever. I thought if they had loads of greens then they'd get plenty of vitamin C.

Charly, is Tallulah's urine tested frequently to keep a close eye on her diabetes? I know it's a little off-topic.

Any abnormalities with the teeth can affect eating habits, but the fact that both Tallulah and Gypsey have gone off foods may suggest a change in tastes or a slightly different "taste" to the same veggies.

Sorry for the late reply. Gypsey seems to be eating them now - although not as much as normal and Tallulah is still anti them.

We were going to syringe her Vit C but going to do it after shes had the baytril course because she started just spitting everything out - think she was fed up of 4 syringes a day.

Tallulahs urine isnt tested that much anymore to be honest, we just kind of pick up if she is ill at all. Her urine was tested alot (as was her blood) on her old diet and up until we got to the current diet and thats the one we have stuck with as it seems to have the best results with her (pretty much no UTI's etc) and then we dont test it much anymore but think I might try and get some sticks soon.

I would recommend feeding fresh parsley, basil, coriander, dill etc instead of pepper.

Make sure that you weigh Tallulah daily or every two days if you are worried about her food intake - weight is a good way to monitor that.

Are you giving her probiotics or mushed up pellets soaked in a bit of water from her friend to help kick start her digestive system? Her appetite may be off from the baytril.

Thank you. I will definitely get her some parsly and dill then I know she LOVES those and will be happy to have some.

I will weigh her too, just have really shoddy scales but will keep doing it to check on her. She did put on 100grams last time I checked.

I havent syringed fed her yet because she is eating plenty but its mainly hay and some pellets.

Weighed her today and she is 1275g which is 75g up so definitely not losing weight also Gypsy has gone up 100grams and is now a nice round 1kg - the most she has ever been :)

How long should they be on a course of Baytril?

It varies depending on the type and severity of the infection, but even looking at the variety of infections Baytril treats, the majority should be treated with antibiotics for a minimum of 5-7 days and/or for at least a few days after symptoms have ceased.

I am glad that the girls are better. It is not good to stop antibiotics too early, just because your piggy is better. If in doubt, ask your vet.

Today is day 8 of Baytril and I believe she is better - think I will give her 10-12 days on them in total. The vet wont be in until next saturday :(
