Tallulah Lola is off to the vets

Hi Everyone! My little Princess Tallulah Lola is booked into the vets for 9.40 on Friday and mummy is worrying already.

receptionist asked the vet and he said it does sound like a URI.

I have some extra vitamin spray under the sink somewhere, if I can dig it do you think I should spray some on her food? I dont want to give her too much vitamins...

if it is a URI i would be wanting an appointment for my piggies today as they can go downhill so quickly! is she still eating and drinking well?
 
She is eating loads of hay and drinking water, I havnt really noticed the food... Ill call and ask if they can change it
 
I agree with Lovely girl,you need to see the vet today!
 
Ive called my old vets (because the one where she is booked in is our new vets) and he is on a home visit at the farm near us this aft so he will pop in and check on her... he said that she should have been seen today
 
That's good of him to come out to you. Hope she is ok.
 
Ye, hes going to check over her but he said not to cancel the appointment on friday as she might still need it. I'm at work and missing her like mad
 
How is your piggy today?

Vitamin sprays are no good - too much sugar and artificial stuff. Peppers, parsley and broccoli are all high vitamin C veg and MUCH better for your girl! Do not try to put anything in her water either. You can can't control the intake and it makes the bottle go green within hours in this weather.

Please ask your vet to prescribe a probiotic with any antibiotics to help with the digestion and the appetite. You can also put a tiny dab of vicks on the nose if the breathing is very laboured.

If she is not eating, mush up pellets in water and syringe her that.

Hiya, as soon as he saw her he said ' well you havnt been getting all of your vitamins have you darling' and i thought 'oh no'.

But he told me to keep watching her, and to try my hardest to get some broccoli down her. He prodded her a bit which upset me but he said that he had to 'feel for things'.

He told me that I need to actually see her drinking water and not just presume that because the bottle is going down that shes drinking. If I dont see her drink by lunch today, I have to call him and he will call the new vet and insist that I get an appointment straight away. He said to still keep the appointment with my new vet for tomorrow anyway.

She was out last night and took a piece of lettuce from my hand and had a nibble then left it... but its a start... and she had a little water too. I used the vitamin spray but he said its pointless and things such as vitamin spray are just a way for places who sell them to make money... the spray wont really do anything because her food contains the correct vitamins, so if shes eating a few pellets then its doing its job.

She had a few scatches which he said indicates that shes been bullied by another guinea pg and nothing has been done, which is why she is skinny.

Not so good for the cow from the farm though... poor moo cow... apparently it was depressed, anorexic and wouldnt go near the rest of the herd... how strange.. everything goes on in Halifax... its a strange place...
