I have had them for almost a week and would love to hand tame them. Any one have any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi! Here is a collection of tips on how to deal with skittish new piggies. It is mainly a matter of patience and persistence. Be gentle, give lots of praise and encouragement, don't hover over them if possible, and establish a firm routine.
If you are worried about the pick up, try to pick them up in a padded shoebox with one end cut off, an upturned pigloo, a cuddle cup or cosy or even a towel. Wait until they are comfy whatever you are using for a pick up.

It can take 6 months sometimes more
gentleness, patience, kisses, cuddles, hand feeding treats interacting with them, talking to them, putting them on a table with treats and get your face onto their level look into their eyes and tell them how gorgeous they are, talk to them while they eating, do this often every day and eventually they will learn.
hand feeding is a gr8 way of bonding. Looking into their eyes and speaking softly works. Rubbing your nose gently on their nose is a piggy greeting. Eye contact is powerful. Rub their ears gently it calms them down too.
it is healthy for guinea pigs to be skittish it shows they have a healthy nervous system.they have to be quick and skittish to escape from prey.
Perseverance is the key. My piggy is living testiment of this. He was skittish at 7 months and scared. I would say it took me a year with him but end result was soooo worth it.
He loved me talking to him. He especially loved sitting on table eating treats whilst i sit on the floor to get onto his level - looked into his eyes and told him how gorgeous he is and talked to him, he made happy noises lol its very special

Adult Guinea Pig
I only have one out of 4 that will come to the front and accept food from my hand but two are really cuddly once caught. Its flash and fudge (flash is a rescue, fudge is still a youngster) that are still quite skittish and not really into being held. I just kept handling them and doing the same thing each time, I talk to them and try to catch them inside something like an igloo so I am not chasing them about and handle them each day for a few minutes, never letting them jump out my hands (just for their own safety).
Its still early days with my gang but they do come round, just keep at it.
