i have found a tan and white Rex female who has the sweetest personality. She is submissive and a real cutie

I don't know what to do

If you really want her and have the space and financial means for her then why not?

Because my boar is being neutered on Friday. Too much too soon? But the girlies would have settled by the time he is ready to he introduced to them and the cage would have been expanded to 8x2 grids.

I think sometimes you know what you need to do. It sounds like you really want this little one, so as long as you can afford to look after her, then why not?

That would mean the girls have a nice long 6 week period of settling in before Snowy can even come see all his wives :)

If you can afford her go for it, you know you will always wonder about her if you don't. I'd love more piggies, the one thing that stops me expanding is the thought of getting lots of vets fees at once.

There are endless cute animals out there. I have five hamsters and at one time had eight rabbts (now four). Dont take on more than you can comfortably manage.

At least it would only be one set up. Probably!

So.....did you go back and get her @Flamestriker ?

Yes, I got her.

I couldn't resist that little face. She is very sweet natured so we have called her Sweetie. She is submissive because I watched her with the group.

She is currently in the 120cm pen. Do I keep her in there or divide the C&C cage in to 2x3 for my current girls and2x2 for her?

I did check her gender and she is a girl. But I have made a big mistake and started the bonding last night in a clean pen.

The dominance went well but because I didn't see her eat or drink when with the girls in the 5x2 cage I placed her back in the pen alone.

I am going to try again on Wednesday when she is more settled. So do I keep her in the pen or divide the C&C cage?

I just feel that I have made a huge mistake :(

Hmm. I would be tempted to divide the c and c cage so that can get to know each other through the bars. What mistake did you make? Do you mean you started bonding too soon ie before she has had a chance to settle in/be quarentined? Whats done is done. I hope future bonding continues to go well.

I can totally see why you got her. She is gorgeous!

Remember it takes time :hmm: let her get settled then reintroduce on Wednesday.
I'll pop this here Introducing And Re-introducing Guinea Pigs for a refresh

By the way she is lovely, I can see why you couldn't resist.

I did everything too soon, poor lil thing. And I feel terrible. She's hiding in a pile of hay and munching in the pen at the the moment. Such a sweet character! I couldn't leave her. I just couldn't!

Even Smudge has gone quiet, and is acting out of character. That is because the heirarchy was disturbed? When I re do the introductions I will leave everyone in the pen for a day and them return to the recleaned cage. And I'm not going to disturb them! No peeking even!

I'm going to buy more toys this morning in readiness for the re bonding, as the ones they have all got scent on them.

Thanks for the refresh. IV read all of the threads but when things are happening before you it can appear so different. I'm going to read all of the bonding threads several times plus post op care and syringe feeding as Snowy's neutering op is Friday!

The strange thing was, I was fine when they were going through the dominance sort out in the pen. Then I transferred to the cage and Sweetie refused to move from her hiding spot, until smudge sat on her head and chased her. And chased her every time she saw her.

I didn't see her eat or drink, and I removed her back to the cleaned out pen. Next time I'm shutting the door and letting them get on with it.
