2 years ago, i lost my first boy bojack at the age of 4.
3 months ago, i lost teddys lifelong companion nugget at the age of 6 suddenly. today ive lost Teddy, my last pig, also at the age of 6 suddenly. he had heart failure/circulation issues of some sorts, his little ears and lips were blue and his breathing was very heavy, so he was put to sleep a few hours ago. i thought he was going to pass last night, but he fought until today.

i'm absolutely gutted and heartbroken, but all of my boys are together now. i'm going to miss the little veggie squeaks so so much. it's hard to imagine a home without them.

I am so sorry for your losses please be gentle with yourself as you grieve.

As you say try to picture them all happily popcorning in fields full of treats, reunited over The Rainbow Bridge 🌈

I am so very sorry for your loss. The end of an era brings back so many memories but you also grieve for all your piggies you have now lost your tangible link to.

Acute heart failure and the resulting breakdown of the blood circulation is not an uncommon way for the body close down but you have done absolutely the right thing to shorten the journey to the Rainbow Bridge Teddy was already on when it turned into a long, dreary slog.

Your handsome three boys are a testimony to your love and good care. We can sadly never choose when and what from our beloved ones die. All we can do is give them plenty of happy todays, which is how piggies measure a good life by. They don't have a concept for an average lifespan.

Try to mourn all three boys together as the unit they are now again. It's been a special time of your life. Be kind with yourself and give yourself the space and time to not be OK for a little while you go through the roughest part of the grieving process.

Make sure that you do not leave an empty cage and that you physically fill the place - even if it is with a picture of your boys. You may also want to play some soft background music so the sudden silence in the room is not hitting you too badly if that is a problem to get used to.
