(I hope this is the right section)
My Hazel is about 5-6 months old - she has been happily bonded with my older pig Acorn (1 year old) for about a month now and I think she is reaching her teenage phase? She (until now) has accepted her position below Acorn in the hierarchy. Yesterday she started rumble-strutting all over the cage although it was very cute and Acorn handled it amazingly and wasn’t phased. I just wondered if I am right in thinking that she is going through her “rebellious” teenage phase and if so what sort of things can I expect? I appreciate any experience people can share - I’m not really worried at the moment since it seems fairly harmless and as long as no blood is drawn I’ll just keep my eye on them.

Yes she is hitting the teenage years, which means she might try and challenge the dominance of your top piggy a little. You can expect seasons to be a little bit more lively than perhaps you have been used to. But it should all be fine.
Best thing you can do is that during season time is to make sure both pigs have their own hiddies that they can retreat to to get some space.

It sounds like she is coming into season? They tend to be stronger around 5-7 months of age, and the behaviour can be stroppier. rumble-strutting is part of that.
if you want to brace for some real fireworks have a look at these videos here: When Sows Experience A Strong Season (videos)

Ok thank you. I did suspect that she was. She has been rumble-strutting a lot but Acorn (top piggy) is quite big compared to her and just ignores her or brushes it off so far. I must say I haven’t even noticed them being in season so far - they have three hideys between the two of them so should be all good. Thanks for the advice :) I really appreciate it xx

Thank you so much. Like I said in a previous comment I haven’t really noticed them coming into season (yet/until now) - no even acorn really and I’ve had her for eight months. I will check out those videos now and prepare for what may come :xd:

The videos are just a small taster for when you have a room full of sows, the majority of who decides to come into strong season over the course of about 3 days due to a real tornado of pheromones... It's three days of undiluted madness at the end of which everpig is totally crashed out!

Wow, I’m assuming it’s a bit less chaotic if there are only two sows together? Does there bond tend to be stronger after the season? That must be so hectic! I sometimes feel two is enough for me to handle I can’t even imagine a room full!

It will be fine. Some seasons will be stronger than others, and you will notice the more. Others will pass by quite quickly and unnoticed.

More sows equals more seasons, two sows two seasons

Probably just you have both girls seasons to deal with, not just one. We have 6 ladies now, endless fun and games! Though our youngest has just arrived and hasnt come into season yet. And to be fair now she's over a year old my maddest hormonal lady has calmed down a lot, and my 2 older ladies (2 and a half or 3) dont give us much trouble :)

By two seasons do you mean they will be twice as strong or will come twice as often (sorry for so many questions - I’ve always dreamed of having a big herd so this is quite useful information)
Each sow will have one season.

Wow 6 ladies! That’s basically my dream and ultimate goal! Glad to hear it isn’t so bad. It sort of caught me off guard because this must be the first season where they are together and the right age. Thanks for sharing - it’s really useful to hear.
