Nugget has quite the stroppy teenager on her hands! 6-7 weeks in and we still have lots of dominance behaviour, constant rumble strutting from nugget (returned when marshmallow is in season) as marshmallow is growing there's no more submission squeeeks from her she's chinning off and nipping back 🤦‍♀️ I think nugget will be quite the insecure leader as she lost dominance to fluffy shortly before their bond fully fell apart when fluffy was hormonal, resulting in nugget becoming very stressed and depressed, she perked up as soon as she got baby marshmallow for a friend but marshmallow as a teenager is proving hard for her to handle, i suspect marshmallow might actually take dominance in the near future but I'm unsure how nugget will handle this. Nugget has had a slightly crusty nipple on and off but I'm hoping the behaviour is down to a stroppy teenager and not another hormonal piggy! The crust was very slight and washed away both times. I'm really hoping they will both get through it but if there's anything at all I can do to help them through it I'd appreciate any guidance! Nugget got through all of fluffys strong over the top seasons as a teenager with no issues it was only when fluffy was constantly in season and very aggressive they could no longer work things out.
From reading the bonding guides there's nothing to say they won't make this work, everything is just extra nerve racking when you've just had a happy long term bond break down!

I am very sorry!

Crusty nipples are a sign of hormones.

I would recommend that you follow the tips in our boar guide to help stabilise the environment as much as possible. What you cannot control is the personalities involved and the individual dynamics between them as they are always unique and complex.
A Comprehensive Guide to Guinea Pig Boars

Like with humans, you have easy and not so easy personalities. Insecurity/fear is quite a big factor but hopefully Nugget can grow with the job and hang on in there. ;)

Thankyou I suspected as much but wasn't convinced since it had washed away! On the positive without jinxing anything because it seems too good to be true over the weekend fluffy and princess were introduced and they are still together with next to no dominance! Which surprised me considering fluffys fear aggression and p being a 4 year old bereaved sow with a history of unsuccessful dates! It seems too good to be true but lots of sleeping together, eating together aandd zoomies 😍 fingers crossed a slow bond was all they needed! I darent relax just yet but looking positive! Now to just sort nugget and marshmallow out 🤦‍♀️ xx

Nugget did have an x Ray a couple of months back though and no cysts mentioned 🤷‍♀️

Cysts start off very small; it is often the small ones when they get going that cause the hormonal behaviour. I would however not yet worry a lot as it is very much still on the mild side. Ovarian cysts are very common in sows but by far not all lead to problems.

Oh good thankyou! Hope they work through it, I think they are just closely matched in dominance so it may take them a while!

I think marshmallow has taken dominance 😰 I hope nugget accepts this loss and gets on with it, she's generally a very social piggy so hopefully she's willing to work through it, there was a face off with chin nipping from m, nugget just turned and walked away, m then rumbled all over her face and she just kept her head low and allowed it, they are eating now, I think m won this one.

That sounds pretty peaceful to me!
