Just wondering, do any of you have guinea pigs who chatter their teeth on a regular basis? One of mine does and I'm just trying to work out what it means when he does it! (Ie. Is he happy/nervous/scared etc)

Thanks =]

There is a big difference with teeth chattering and moving their teeth up and down. Guinea pigs will often be seen grinding their teeth and this is normal. If your piggy is teeth chattering at another pig it is a sign of aggression and you have to keep an eye on this to ensure they do not fight. If your piggy is chattering at you it means go away!

Yeahh, mine definitely is a teeth chatterer as opposed to a teeth grinder, so Ill keep an eye on his aggression levels! He only does it when I go to pick him out of the cage to brush him... Ive only had them a week so maybe he's still settling!

Thankyou for your help :)

yeah that would probably be a warning :) one of mine does it if he cant reach something if you feed the others first he'll chatter his teeth at you till you feed him
