Recently my two boars have been making this grinding or chattering noise with their teeth to one another. I think this means they’re annoyed with each other. It doesn’t happen all the time, it usually only happens when one is getting petted and the other isn’t or in short spurts. Usually after, they’re back to playing. Advice on how to make it stop?

Do you mean the one not being petted is the one teeth chattering? May be just wanting attention as well. My boys do it occasionally. The one not being stroked will teeth chattering mildly until I pay them some attention 🙄

Make sure you ‘see to’ the dominant one first whatever you’re doing. Teeth chattering as you said can also mean annoyance. They have a big enough space to get away from each other, and two of everything? I have seen you on the forum but can’t remember everyone’s circumstances! ☺

Yes! It’s usually the other guinea pig not being petted or scratched that chatters. Their cage size is roughly 5 feet by 3.5-4 feet so they have plenty of room. I think that one of the issues is Al, the younger one, is approximately 6-9 months old and has just started to become more noticeably male (if you get where I’m going with that haha) and Winston is about a year old so has had plenty of time to grow out of the teenage months

Haha. Boys will be boys. They’ll be fine as long as the underpig doesn’t try and switch up the hierarchy.
