Does it mean anything when they grind their teeth? Not Teeth Chattering as I know what that is but actual teeth grinding?

I've only known teeth grinding in pigs to be a sign of pain. Either with teeth being too long at the back or an other cause.

my 18 month old boar Sebastian does grind his teeth some of the time and i am certain that he is in no pain, he is very well and happy in himself, i think it is a kind of habit or communication as he does it when you talk to him too, silly as it sounds!

It could just be habit. :) Hopefully it is as if he is ok otherwise. Just like humans do it without knowing.

Anyone else have pigs that do this? I've not come across it other than in unwell animals. :)

yep. all 4 of mine do it, and especially when you talk to them like tab said :))

and Shotzie just had his teeth checked at the vet and they're perfect.

hmmm, I'm hoping it is a habit and not pain. Cos the piggie doing is my new boar whos just been neutered poor chap.

well he is still teeth grinding and he was neutered on Thursday. he is absolutely fine in himself that I can see.

any thoughts?

Mine do it only very occasionally to tell me off when they are not happy about something or feel put upon. Never for long though.

A bit like very low level aggression...
