Dental Teeth Removal/cutting

My piggy has one long list of health problems (I took him on knowing about most of them), the major one being his teeth. He was born without bottom incisors meaning he has to get the top ones cut every few weeks. I am now planning on removing the front set as he is becoming distressed when having them cut.
Now however my vet has informed me that his whole jaw is misaligned and the back ones are growing too long. My vet IS willing to cut them under anaesthetic. I was just wondering if anyone has experience with this kind of thing before?

Please do not let your vet cut any back teeth; that can crack and permanently damage them! :yikes:
He needs to gently burr them, but he needs to have some idea of how they should actually look or the whole dental system can be very unbalanced.

Would your vet be willing to contact another vet with plenty of guinea pig dental experience?

Sorry yes, Burring. Durr... That's what they called it. It's what they do to his front ones too. They use a circular shaped drill. (I'm not sure what it's called) I watched them do it once.
My vets are in contact with a few others and one specialist. I thankfully have a great support network of vets who kindly always fit Bash in.
I'm just struggling to find people who can give me some advice on after care and really some moral support as his situation is quite strange and I want to know I'm doing everything I can.

That is a relief to hear!

Please brace yourself that your piggy may need several rounds of burring to rebalance the whole system again. You may also have to support with syringe feeding and grated veg for quite a while afterwards. Make sure that you have got painkillers.

I can get painkillers from my vet quickly as they know Bash and see him regularly (obviously more than I would like). Thankfully I have experience giving meds and recovery foods via syringe so at least that won't be a problem.
It's good to know I can come on here for some reassurance when I'm panicking
