I have just read somewhere that if Guinea pigs start leaving bits of carrot about it might mean they have problems with teeth is this true I enclose picture of bits left in cage

@Stemcells52 It can be a sign but there's generally other things that to along with it. Like taking longer to eat or not wanting to eat. You can sometimes see problems if you check their front teeth as they can slant with teeth issues.

My boys sometimes leave food like that so in itself it's nothing to worry about. But it's always good to keep an eye on things.

You can keep a check on their weight too. Losing weight can be a sign of teeth issues.

Hi!

Little bits are just one small potential symptom of dental issues. Yours looks pretty normal for a piggy that has more to eat than it can eat in one go while making a beeline for the sweeter carrot inners.

If you suspect dental issues:
Please check the front teeth - are the edges even and neat or slanted, jagged or inward facing (i.e. overgrown)?
Is your guinea pig eating noticeably slower?
Is your guinea pig picking up food only to drop it?
Is it stopping to eat pellets, hay or harder veg?
Is the weight stable?
Has your guinea pig a wet chin?
