Out of interest can piggys get things stuck in their throat if their teeth get to long?

I think where Bert broke his two bottom teeth they have grown back a bit to long, (unable to provide photos as I am at work)

As I have been watching him eat, he is mainly eating veggies and not a lot of Hay which is worrying me as they should eat hay like there is no tomorrow!
And when he eats he chews for a while then makes a strange sound and it looks like he is chewing with his mouth open sounds odd I know. When we gave him his meds on Saturday it looked like he coughed up a bit of food. Just want to get him all sorted, as what happened with Winston has really upset me and I don't want a poorly piggy now :( :(

Oh good news though his abscess has all but gone now, only the tiniest of lumps left. (ran out of time to edit the first post sorry)

could it be that he now has a problem with his back teeth if he has not been eating as usual.

Pigs have four at the front and 16 at the back, if he is not eating properly the back ones may start to cause trouble you need a good guinea vet to look at them.

Well Bert went to the vets today and she checked him out, she said his teeth look good, but his mouth area is a bit swollen. Which could be down to his abscess, so she gave him some pain killers and this evening he hasn't stopped eating! She weighed him and he is approx 590g so pleased he is eating again :<>

ah bless bert x>> its always good to see a piggie pig out

happy he's doing well
