Would something like this work for temp housing ((like 6 months max 1 year)) for like 2-4 guinea pigs? Once I build my permanent cage I’ll be able to get more but a person in my area has a ton of piggies she needs to rehome 42BFE1B9-B6A0-4DA4-A608-830AEA561AAF.webp

I would say that’s too small an area to be in for that long, even for two piggies. Maybe a few months... If the cage is at least 120cm (recommended minimum) then you’re good to go. Maybe ask her to measure it.

Please double check the gender and I’d say if they are females to put them on pregnancy watch. You don’t know what circumstances they’ve been living in.

Yeah they’ll definitely be on pregnancy watch cause the person had 22 guinea pigs and is down to these 2 cause she’s been selling them off and I’m gonna try to figure out the measurements on the dog playpen Incase the cage they’re coming with is too small

I’ll definitely be using a different cage than the one coming with them cause she just said it’s like 2 ft long

If you could make a floor space for them that’s somehow attached to the cage it could work. If you used a play pen you could do it that way.

So like if I can figure out a way to hook this playpen to the cage it would work? Atleast for a few weeks since they are babies? I ask cause I already have a playpen like this one

You can set it up and put the cage inside it. There are examples if you look in the housing section

hiya,if you can work out what the square feet of the pen?the minimum needs to be 8 square feet for two guinea pigs.i use these pens as a temporary cage for going on holiday ! i hope you are able to find a big enough cage .

I feel like it’s 8 sq feet but I’m not sure how I would go about measuring it since it’s not a square/rectangle or triangle

Its big enough that we kept 2 kittens in it for like a month until they were big enough to roam the house without our Boston accidentally trampling them or loving them to death lol

Is it one of those hexagon/octagonal ones? A pic would help. Could you set it up to be a rectangle/square?

if you can find the measurements from where you purchased the pen then that will enable you to work out the square footage !

I’ve been thinking about it while I try to look for the one I bought and each side has to be atleast 18 inches wide probably so if I made it into a square itd probably be about 3 foot by 4.5 foot though I’ll definitely double check when I get home in the morning

I did the math wrong and apparently my brain now thinks octagons have 10 sides lol it would be about 3x3 foot approximately if I squished it to a square shape though I plan to leave it as an octagon so I can use the bottom cover

If you do a rectangle, it would be approximately 135x90cm. That’s a good space. Just be sure they can’t get through the gaps, particularly the two month old.

I added more Velcro to the bottom but I can’t make it into a rectangle without being unable to use the bottom cover or the top zipper part plus if I squish it into a rectangle it looses all structural integrity so it’s gotta stay an octagon

I have one of those playpens and it’s 5’ diameter, we use it for holidays and in winter when it’s too cold or wet to go outside. It’s pretty big,to work out the sq footage the area of a circle is Pi x Radius squared
The area is 3.142 x 1/2 the diameter squared
Example 3.142 x 2.5 x 2.5=19.6375 sq ft
