Hi all

I usually use fleece bedding but my washing machine has just given up. I've always used fleece and have absolutely no idea what else I can use while I wait for the machine to get repaired ! What else can I use?

Shavings is probably one of the most common and easy to find, and in package sizes which arent going to mean you’re left with loads if you don’t wish to continue with it after your machine is fixed

(I use disposable bedding all the time so I buy in 20kg bales at a time!)

Bedding For Guinea Pigs - Overview

I'd rather avoid shavings as I have asthma, but I'll take a look at the other suggestions. Thanks.

Are you worried about the dust content? I have used aspen shavings before and there is almost no dust in it (depending on what brand you use). There also also other substrates like paper bedding. I know that dust is also something to look out for with guinea pigs, and I would not have used them if I thought they were really dusty.
If you really still want to use fleece them you could wash them by hand. I have done this before and it is not impossible. It’s just a lot of water.
Hope that helps. 🙂

Yes, the dust.

I've just washed the fleece by hand in the bath. Did order some bedding last night but I'd prefer to use fleece. It also looks nicer, especially when the pigs are in the living room.

I use back to nature under my hay, it is expensive for a full cage but it’s like compressed paper, I find it very absorbing under the hay.

Back 2 nature is great but it's better at absorbing fluid than you'd think. Cleaning out time afterwards, that stuff gets heavy. I love it though, worth the money and more.
