But I resisted!

I find it so hard not to adopt guineas that need a home.

Saturday I was in pets at home and in their adoption section there was a little girls who had been abandoned and in need of a special home. She was called JAZZ! Check outy username - it felt like fate. But I figured someone will adopt her soon right? I walked away!

Why is it so hard to resist new pigs when they seem in need?

Because we care deeply and want them to have a great home and be looked after and cherished. Also we are a smidge obsessed dontcha think?:))

Agree with Modwyn!

I think every guinea pig deserves a home like your piggy tower, Lisa, but maybe you should save some space for those that are truly in need, like Orson? (trying to help you with an argument to back off for now :))) I'm sure little Jazz will find a great family soon!

Have to agree with Modwyn, I only get around my hubby by saying I am only fostering. (took me a long time to convince him that Marty Pig would not be adopted by anyone else LOL)

I am absolutely definitely not allowed any more. Two was his limit which I have stretched to three but I'm not allowed to keep my current fosterling Ginger

Pooh to all non piggy people!mallethead

That's what I thought - Jazz wasn't in any immediate problems and although abandoned was in a warm safe enclosure and looking very cute. I'm sure she's already gone and I've no plans to go there any time soon. I just wanted to find out if anyone finds it as hard as I do to walk away?

Orson was in desperate and immediate need hence me taking him then and there. I would do it again too - but then probably try and rehome as my cages are full and I have no where to put any more and no time to do any more cage cleaning.

Tough though...

Oh gosh, that did sound like fate!
But sometimes it is better to walk away, she might be fate for some other loving piggeh mummy :)

I know how hard it is though...walking into little corner pet shops or market style pet stores that have pigs and other animals kept in conditions just not suitable...I've had to walk away so many times since getting my boys >.<

It just seems that once you have a piggy or two or three yourself you can't help but love all piggies. It is really difficult to walk away sometimes, I can't look at them anymore in petshops, I want to take them all home.
Piggy slaves we certainly are

I am afraid to say i am banned from looking at the animals in petshops for exactly that reason! I fall in love with every animal i meet!

aww hun

I was looking at a baby sow called lola, who was tiny8... and the notice said she MUST be housed alone@) she was too small to even say that about her! I didn't get her as my cage only big enough for 2 guineas:( and we move soon.

That's how I ended up with Whiskey. He was labelled as 10 months old and needed to be a lone boar. My heart melted when I saw him (when does it not I hear some of your groan!) and I asked more about him. Turned out he had originally had a brother who died and then the owners got him a baby for company but he attacked the baby so they kept the baby and gave Whiskey up. No information as to how they had tried intros etc so I decided to bring him home. I knew I had pairs of boys I could try him with or have him neutered and live with the girls. Luckily he bonded with the second pair of boys I tried him with.

I find it very hard to say no and just refuse to look at piggys in shops. My kids even know that Mummy won't buy piggys from shops so they ask to look but they don't ask to buy.

So I'm constantly tempted, have said no on many occasions, have said yes on many more but try to restrict the yes to piggys in rescues.
