We have had our guinea pig for about a year now. We take good care of him, and clean his cage every week. We have never had a problem with odor at all, there was a slight odor when cleaning the cage but it was very slight. We use carefresh bedding. In the last 2-3 weeks there has been a terrible odor, really, really, bad. We have had to clean his cage every 2 days and it is still bad. Does this mean he is sick? He seems normal in behavior and there is no noticeable injury on him. He is alone in the cage and gets lots of TLC every day. I don't know what to do but we have to do something. Something has to be wrong as this has not ever happened before with him. He is around 4 years old.

Hi and welcome!

Your boy may suffer from impaction or a sperm rod, both which are very smelly and uncomfortable, and may need an antibiotic if it the condition is really bad and has gone infected; please have him vet checked! Impaction is not uncommon in older boars when the muscles gradually weaken and boars struggle to push out the poos they need to ingest again.
If your vet diagnoses an impaction, then it helps to switch to a fibre-rich diet and also serve the same foods at the same time every day.

Alternatively, smelly, stale urine indicates an infection in the bladder.

Hi , could be that he has an absess that has burst , and gone Un noticed , feel around for hard matted hair , if you find something like that
it would be wise to take him to see a vet
other poserbilertis , the hot whether has heated his blood a increased his testosteon, levels and he is producing pheromone smells .

Other poss he has a bladder infection, or poss infection of the white deposits under the foreskin,
roll back his foreskin and completely expose the willy and clean the deposits off with a soft piece of cotton cloth and warm water .
