Hi there

I have had my 2 boys for nearly a year now. One, Taz is quite happy to be handled and will sit and eat his lettuce/grass during lap time. His companion Mojo on the other hand is a completely different story. He seems terrified to leave his hutch, even though he has been handled the same as Taz. He seems to really panic when he is seperated from Taz, but if I try to give them lap tme together he just seems to upset Taz.

If I try to give Mojo lap time on his own he goes into panic mode, trying to hide under anything he can find, showing the whites of his eyes and calling for Taz.

What can I do to try and ease his fear and make time outside the hutch enjoyable for him?

I will be watching this with interest as I have a similar problem with mine. Fudge loves to be handled and no longer runs away when you pick her up but Cuddles still runs and hides, however she does seem to like handling time but just doesn't seem to like to leave her cage.

Try giving him veg when he is out, so he associates nice things with being out for laptime. :)

How often do you handle them, I have a male piggie who is very scared but he is a rescue, and slowly coming round takes alot of time and patience :).

I have two like this. One is a baby though and was in a bit of a situation when I got him - I am hoping he'll come round as he's only a baby.

The other is a rescue that came here. She's very slowly getting better she doesnt shriek in fear when I pick her up any more but she's definitely very fearful. The girl she came here with has become so laid back - very different.
