I have used Tesco Guinea Pig food (the one in the purple bag) for nearly all of my two guinea pigs lives, and have never really had a problem with it. They dont selective feed, they seem to love it and when I compared the ingredients to a bag of food from my vets they seemed pretty much then same. However, whenever the pigs go to one of my friends houses while I'm holiday, they always scoff at the fact that its Tesco and assume it cant be that good for them. Can anyone who's seen it possibly tell me if its any good for them?

For me the Tesco purple bag is the best museli on the market. Mine love it but I do have a couple of selective feeders so I have them all on pellets. :)

As long as pigs are eating it thats the main thing. :)

Thanks for the quick reply :)
Yes they do love it, I tried them on Excel pellets once but they would'nt touch the stuff
Fussy little things rolleyes
As long as its good for them then I'll carry on giving it :)

I got a bag of that last week to see if mine liked it and they seem to but they had none on the shelves this week cos they were out of stock.:...

I'm sure they'll be back in stock soon, both my piggies love it so its definately worth the wait :)
Remember not to mix them up and get the Rabbit AND guinea pig food, I think its awful, its encouraging people to keep guinea pigs with rabbits grrrr

Well I've got two Netherland dwarf rabbits as well but they have Science selective rabbit food. I don't keep them anywhere near the guineas cos I have experienced firsthand in the past what damage rabbits can do to piggies.:( I'm going to try my guineas on a bag of Wagg guinea pig crunch - I've ordered one from the petshop. I have fed guineas on this in the past and from what I remember they seemed to like it - its worth a try anyway.:)

Mine are on a combination of Tesco's purple bag and Wagg at the moment. I am not yet sure which they prefer so might put in a bowl of each in their hutch and see which gets eaten first.

I shifted over from feeding them Gerti after the bad reviews on here.

It's a pity Tesco's only sell small bags though, unless you can get larger bags on their website. I think I might have a look later.

I dont like this stuff - when we got our two new piggies they were on this, but wouldn't eat it and i just didn't like the look of it, looked cheap and rubbish.

I have used this on piggies that come to me on a mix then slowly change them over to pellets. I do buy the odd bag of this or wagg crunch as a few of mine do like mix as well as thier excell.
Given the over all rating on this food its not a bad food unlike gerty.

Ours all have the Tesco guinea pig food, I think I'm right in thinking that it hasn't got a load of colourings etc. like some of the other brands have in them.

You can get larger bags but only in the really large stores, and sometimes they do go out of stock of the smaller ones, so I try to always have a bag in reserve :)

Urgh I wish I could get bigger bags they seem to run out really quickly pow-pow My local Tesco is huge but it only sells the small bags :(
