Alright, so to start off my guinea pigs names Gabe, I don't know how old he is but hes still very little. (He's also not growing though..) He eats regularly, and drinks regularly. He's had cases of seizures but the vet gave us medications for him, and such. He lays on his side most of the time, and he doesn't move much. Yesterday he was being himself, just laying on his side sleeping (Vet said it was normal for a guinea pig like him). Nothing seemed wrong, and today I woke up and picked him up and noticed his penis was swelled. Alarmed, I go to my mom and ask her what it was. No one seems to know, and I'm really worried because he's such a small guinea pig yet he's gone through a lot. Another thing I noticed was a that his teeth are turned to an angle? I'd get a picture but its difficult to hold him still (he hates his head being touched.)

Hi welcome to the forum. I don't have much experience in this type of thing but I think he needs to see a vet ASAP as I would say it looks strangulated and he will be in a great deal of pain. As for his teeth, please could you post a photo as he may have dental problems, is it affecting his eating at all? Are his other problems neurological?

Hiya! Which country are you in?

Poor Gabe looks like he's got something stuck in his penis sac (probably boar glue and gunk). If you can't gently and with a bit of oil remove it, please have him seen by your vet. it looks very painful as if something has wrapped around it.

Any dental problems need to be treated by your vet. That is probably the reason why he is not putting on any weight. It is not just his front teeth, but also his pre-molars and molars that will be crucial; they are most likely to be overgrown. Has your vet ever checked his back teeth and is he able to deal with dental problems?

Having read Wiebke's post, I agree it looks like something is stuck in there.

So, I put a warm rag on the swelling and it did go away, and his teeth are doing fine now yet he hasn'tgained any weight. But today the swelling came back? He isn't in pain and he's moving around normally and my mom doesn't think he needs to go to the vet, I disagree but I'll try the oil thing.

Your piggy needs to see a vet, frankly! Please remind your parents that it is their legal responsibility to make sure that any minor's pets in their household are properly cared for.

Please keep on weighing him daily.

Are you sure he isnt in pain? That looks really painful.

We have pulled plenty of boar glue, hay and hair from one of ours, so it is really easy for things to work their way in there and get stuck.

I think a vet visit is essential. They will remove anything up there and possibily give him some pain relief aswell. If he is in pain he will likely eat and drink less which will lead to more problems in the near future.
