I go to Rangers (step up from Girl Guides ) and it's a lot of fun. There's only about 6 of us go so we just do what ever we want and today we had planned to go ice skating and I was sharing lifts with my friend.

Well I was just finishing off my tea, rushing as I had to be ready to go at 5pm and it was almost half 4 and my mum comes in and tells me there's a dilemma and I might not be able to go ice skating. The friend who I was sharing lifts with was distraught because she had lost her 8 week old baby guinea pig and she only got him 3 days ago 8... obviously she didn't want to go. I started panicking asking what happened and my friend was getting him and her older piggy out of the run and baby Humphrey just ran off into the bushes, she had tried to catch him but he was so fast. :(

I didn't care about ice skating then or finishing my tea rolleyes so my mum drove me down and we were helping her search for Humphrey, she had already been searching 20 minutes and she was so upset thinking she' lost him. He is so tiny so we had no idea where to find him. We searched for about 10 minutes, using carrots and everything to see if he'd come out, no sign. :(

But then my friends mum heard a noise coming from a prickly bush so we all crowded round the bush and managed to see Humphrey! :<> We managed to get him out, it was a struggle and my hands are all scratched but thank goodness he is now safe and sound! It was so scary, I can't imagine how my friend must have felt because I was worried sick and I'd never even met the piggy! :( She was scared she would never see him again, she had just got her older piggy Alfie a new friend as sadly a few months ago, his friend passed away and now she thought she had lost Humphrey too.

So glad he's safe now and we got to go ice skating too. :)) Such a rush and panic but such a happy ending for my friend and Humphrey. :)

100 Brownie points from this Snowy Owl...well done. hope you enjoyed the ice skating!

awww a happy ending thank god!

I had this problem with my first pig Sidders, he used to squirm so much and twice he jumped out of my hands in the garden and ran as they always do straight for the hedge...i was mortified both times, god only knows how we managed to get him back both times, they are sooo quick and babies must be even worse!

I dread to think what could happen to them in the big bad world...........:{

ps/ are you a kerry katona or laura whatshername type skater?

Reading this post, my heart skipped a beat. We took my boys over to my parents last year so they could piggy sit whilst we went on holiday. Earnie who was six months old at the time did exactly what Humphrey did. I had to physically climb into a thorny bush knowing there were gaps under the fence; I was crying, shouting at my husband and fearing the worst. Fortunately me climbing into the bush made Earnie run back onto the lawn where my husband rescued him. I completely appreciate what a horribly scary experience this is! Well done in catching him :-)
