Kimmie, I wanted to say "Thanks" and although I cried when I left your house a few hours ago, I feel good that my babies will be together with this new lady who will take them in. I feel good that Lenny will be checked by the vet and seen about with those two lumps that came up under his neck. I came home into the room to find it very quiet in here where I normally would here them running around. I am sad that my little friends are gone, but I am glad thye went to you Kimmie. It was very nice to meet you today, even though I didn't say it in the end, I just wanted to leave before the water works started and trust me, they did. They looked like they started having fun in that cage they were in and I saw Ruxpin popcorn once and I feel better that they looked happy when I left. I have many photos of them and will always remember them. Please, if you could...the new lady who adopts them all next week, please see if she wouldn't mind giving her email. I would absolutely love to hear about them and to hear if Lenny is better, etc. I feel so bad that I hate to hear about guineas in a shelter needing homes and here I am putting 3 in myself :'( but at least I know that next week they will have a forever home. So again, thank you Kimmie for taking them in. I want to hear all about them! It was a pleasure meeting you and you do a very good job. Those were some beautiful guineas you had there too. Until then, take care.

I'm so sorry they had to go, but I'm sure there new home will be fantastic and Kimmie will make sure of that. Don't feel bad for having to say goodbye to them - everyone gets into situations where they have to make very difficult decisions. I hope you can keep in touch with their new parents and find out how they're getting on. Big hugs to you.

And to Kimmie - you do a great job doing what you do, just wondering, are you the only piggy shelter/rescue in your area?

Thanks for that.
Oh and Kimmie, make sure that them babies get plenty of Bell Pepper...don't matter if they are green or red, they will eat them. That is their favorite! :)

what a lovely story with a happy ending well done Kimmie of course and well done guinea_girl for being so brave and unselfish, i hope lenny does well and gets the all clear, I do love to hear of such happy endings ;) makes this forum so worth while ;)

Aww, you're about to get me started! I'll make sure that the week they're here they'll be extra spoiled and will get their peppers. I'll also make sure that the new home is aware of that and will definitely make sure that she is alright with the email swap. She's a fabulous lady so I don't think that will be a problem at all. On the adoption application it asks why they think they would be a good adoptive parent and she said, "I have been an animal lover my whole life. My first job at 15 (I'm now 41) was a Vet Tech. I have worked in dog and cat rescue as well. I have a fantasitic home, with lots of love and attention for guinea pigs. I had my first one as a rescue until he was eight." Last time I talked to her I described what they look like and she was ecstatic. Especially about Chester (she was hoping for a tri-colored piggy).

They are fabulous guinea pigs and I completely understand why it was so hard for you to give them up. I took them each out and cuddled them and they were some of the sweetest and easiest to hold guinea pigs that I've ever come across. I sliced up an apple for them as well as some uncooked green beans and an extra big pile of Timothy hay. With the exception of some Timothy hay, it's all gone. I'll take them to the vet this week for a check up and to see what the deal is with Lenny's chin. It shouldn't escalate into anything big since you caught it so early O0 I'm extremely happy that I can be part of getting them their forever home, I know that they will be spoiled, if anything, a little bit too much. I'll email you some pigtures and updates for the week that they're here and then make sure that the new home does the same.

And Jane, I'm kinda the only piggy shelter/rescue around here. There's another guinea pig rescue around here but it's a bit away from me. The local animal shelters take in guinea pigs when necessary. However, the local ones have my information and either pass it on to the people or call me to come get them.

Thats very sweet Kimmie. Thanks for replying. I am glad they are doing well. I love them so and miss them already. I have already cleaned the entire room where they were living in here and I can already tell that my allergies have calmed. thats the only relief I have :) I can't wait to see new pics and hear all about them. I know you will take care of them and i know that the lady will too! thanks and keep me posted on this thread or by email! ;)

Of course it's okay! It'd be a huge loss for you and the forum both if you didn't!

Kimmie

You guys are so funny! Don't worry I am not going anywhere. this is the most friendliest forum I have ever been on. You guys are great! :smitten:

Sorry you could no longer keep your guineas. You did the right thing by them and believe me they will miss you too. Hope you do stay in contact with them somehow. :(

They are doing fabulously. I have particularly bonded to Lenny, and he seems to be quite content when I hold him ;D
They're extremely gorgeous and sweet piggies that are extremely tame and like being picked up, but for some reason Lenny is just special.
It might be because he's so little and has gone through so many things, but still shakes his bum to let the others know who's the boss!

Kimmie

:smitten: Thank You for letting me know how they are doing! Lenny was always the sweetest. When I would come up to their house, Ruxpin was always on the outside of the pigloo and he would run in it with Chester and Lenny and when I moved it, Ruxpin and Chester would run, but Lenny would sit there and I could easily pick him up. He was more tame than the others. He HAS went through so much. I did a lot to help keep him alive. He is one I will miss greatly. YEs, a while back I remember posting about his booty shakin that he had going on. He does it often, and its so funny. He lets them all know who is boss. ;D Is it this week that the lady gets them or next week? Thanks for letting me know. I miss them terribly :'(

We got some peppers for them yesterday and passed it out, the boys just went nuts! I think that I got a couple of good pigtures of them eating 'them. I'll post some pigtures later, but I'm on the way out now.

Kimmie

I told you that they LOVED those peppers. I bet Ruxpin was the first to grab one. When I would cut it into fours, he would grab the first piece and jerk it way over away from everybody else. Then usually Chester comes in next, then Lenny. ;D
I will probably cry when I see the pigtures of them :'( But I am so glad you are doing this for me. Which brings back the name of this thread again, Thank You Kimmie! ;) Can't wait to see them!

Here they are-

Like you thought, Ruxpin was first there! He pulled it out of the bowl and over to the side and tried to hide it. However, Lenny was close and followed him (though that was not the only one).

The Ruxpin picked it up and tried to walk past Lenny with it. By then, Chester was coming over (right past the bowl) and Lenny had taken hold of the pepper so Ruxpin would not get away. Chester then joined them.

Sorry there's only two, but I forgot about my shadow and it kinda messed up the others. I'd definitely take some more, though. They're still doing great and are fabulous guineas. I completely understand why it was so hard for you to give them up.

Kimmie

Oh I am gonna cry! :'( :'( :'( There are my babies and I miss them so. This is really hard :'( I am glad they are getting great care. Thank You for posting those. Guess it almost time for their new home this weekend.
To my piggies, - "Take care my babies! Hope to get to hear more about you!"

Oh, did you get to find out about the knots under Lenny's neck yet?

:'( :'( :'( :'( me wanna cry to cause i can just imagine how sad you must feel.
LOL cheeky little fellas :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

While they may need attention in the future, they are alright right now. They are some fabulous piggies, and I just love watching Lenny tell them who's the boss!

Kimmie

Yes Glynis I miss them very much
Kimmie, its so funny cause Lenny always shook his booty at them. I loved to see him do that!

Bless them, I can completely understand why you are upset. Such little characters and such handsome guineas. :'(

Kimmie, any word yet on the lady who was getting my piggies? just curious. How are they? :)

They're doing extremely well. The lady doesn't have the cage ready for them yet, but she's super excited about getting them. My aunt, uncle, and 3 year old cousin came up to visit for the week and my cousin absolutely fell in love with Lenny. She insists that he is a she and that 'her' name is Lilly, but she loves how sweet he is and just holds her (sitting and supervised of course-she's very gentle) and pets him and smiles. He fell asleep on her and I ran to get my camera while my uncle supervised but I came back down and she told me to shush a little too loudly and woke him up. It stunk because it was a wonderful pigture.

We also tried watermelon with them and while Chester wasn't very into it, the other two loved it. It was only a little because of the high sugar, but they just scarfed it up! I got a pigture- I'll upload it soon. Also, I was vacuuming and Chester just started popcorning all over the place. I don't know why, but whenever the vacuum was on so was his popcorning! It was funny.

I'm so sorry you had to give them up, I'm sure you're still missing them badly. However, I can assure you that they're in good hands.
Kimmie

PS The lady said that she probably doesn't mind giving out her email, but would like to meet them and make sure they're the perfect match first.

thanks Kimmie, and yes I would love to see the pics of them eating the watermellon. they got that from me ;D
