Over the past 4 years this forum has given me advice on boar 'hormonal' behaviour and health issues. The information provided has been such a support and the recent use of the syringe feeding guidance was such a help.
The fact that I've been able to leave messages on the rainbow bridge section has also given me some comfort...in very sad times.

I rarely posted questions but I followed a lot of the threads and it gave me a great insight into my fluffy friends.

GInger Ted and Barney joined us nearly 4 years ago. Sadly Barney passed away after a year. Freddie then joined Ginger Ted and they lived happily for nearly 3 years together. Freddie was 3 to 4 years old when he joined us from a rescue and died about aged 6, only in May.
Ginger Ted seemed lonely and Windwistle warren helped to bond him with another...it took a few attempts so it was only a few weeks ago that Mowgli joined us.

Out of the blue I noticed Ginger didn't seem right (he lived in a run, in the house so I felt I knew him well). After an initial visit to our usual vets I took him to see an exotic pet vet. During anesthetic, to take xrays etc, he sadly died.
As Mowgli had just left a friend at the rescue to join us I contacted the rescue for advice...and after careful thought it was decided that he'd be happier returning to be matched with a friend than living on his own. Although we'd have been happy for him to stay with us I had decided that I wasn't going to have any additional Guinea pigs, so this seemed the kindest thing.

Its been an incredibly sad weekend but I'm so grateful for all the love and fun our fluffy friends brought to our home, and we will always remember them.

But I mainly posted this to say thank you to the forum...you will not know how much the information and threads supported me x

So sorry for all of your losses, but I admire your decision to let Mowgli have another chance with a friend.
What a kind and caring owner you have been to all of your piggies.

I think there will be many members that know exactly where you are coming from. I'm sure we'll all received reassurances or even life savers from the threads on this forum. I'm sorry to hear of your losses. I'm sorry you have felt the need to give Mowgli up, sometimes the right decision isn't always the easiest one to make. Hope you are coping ok with this x

I certainly know where you are coming from re help and advice this forum is certainly invaluable. I am sorry to hear your sad news. Giving Mowgli up must have been incredibly hard for you but very caring of you to give him the chance of a new companion. Your piggies have been lucky to have a very kind and caring home, hugs to you through the air waves.

My heart goes out to you for giving Mowgli up. A truly brave thing to do and with his best interests at heart. I saw your Rainbow bridge post I am really sorry for your loss.

I am pleased that the forum has been a help to you, with advice on issues and more importantly support and comfort from the community of which you are a part.

The Rainbow Bridge section is never pruned and memorial are there forever as tributes to the little ones we have lost.

This bought a tear my eye. I am so sorry for your losses. They are all so special and we are very lucky to have them in our lives, but they are also very lucky to have had a lovely owner like yourself. This board has been incredibly helpful to me. I am still relatively inexperienced and I rescued two pigs last September. One of them (Ted who's on my profile picture) died less than six months later. I honestly thought my heart was ripped in two but this forum really helped get me through. Thanks Guinea Pig Forum. xx
