Tina Smith
Junior Guinea Pig
Over the past 4 years this forum has given me advice on boar 'hormonal' behaviour and health issues. The information provided has been such a support and the recent use of the syringe feeding guidance was such a help.
The fact that I've been able to leave messages on the rainbow bridge section has also given me some comfort...in very sad times.
I rarely posted questions but I followed a lot of the threads and it gave me a great insight into my fluffy friends.
GInger Ted and Barney joined us nearly 4 years ago. Sadly Barney passed away after a year. Freddie then joined Ginger Ted and they lived happily for nearly 3 years together. Freddie was 3 to 4 years old when he joined us from a rescue and died about aged 6, only in May.
Ginger Ted seemed lonely and Windwistle warren helped to bond him with another...it took a few attempts so it was only a few weeks ago that Mowgli joined us.
Out of the blue I noticed Ginger didn't seem right (he lived in a run, in the house so I felt I knew him well). After an initial visit to our usual vets I took him to see an exotic pet vet. During anesthetic, to take xrays etc, he sadly died.
As Mowgli had just left a friend at the rescue to join us I contacted the rescue for advice...and after careful thought it was decided that he'd be happier returning to be matched with a friend than living on his own. Although we'd have been happy for him to stay with us I had decided that I wasn't going to have any additional Guinea pigs, so this seemed the kindest thing.
Its been an incredibly sad weekend but I'm so grateful for all the love and fun our fluffy friends brought to our home, and we will always remember them.
But I mainly posted this to say thank you to the forum...you will not know how much the information and threads supported me x
