Thanks Slave! But why are we getting Dinner at Breakfast?

Lovely group! Let’s hope they don’t think it is the way forward!

I accidentally gave patch the rabbit dinner at breakfast the other day, don’t know what I was thinking (says a lot about how the morning had gone so far when I thought it was dinner time at 8am!). He kept quiet and ran off with it under his hutch before I could rectify the error!

Mine are confused too, yesterday morning I was in a hurry so I didnt bother with bowls I just scatterfed a bag of salad leaves and threw lots of hay around, then they got their breakfast cucumber and pellets for dinner with the fancy carrots I'd planned to give them for breakfast!

Mine were confussed yesterday when they got their breakfast very early as we were off for the day to my mums. They were not amused though when we came home late and they'd not had their 4 o'clock nuggets. They are relieved that normal service has resumed today. Guinea pigs are just so routine driven, any diviation from the norm and they are completely thrown.

They definitely love routine! They - my rabbit and piggies - get conflicted in summer though as they hate the fact that their dinner and bedtime are later. I often get loud teeth chattering, wheeking and popcorning all at once as they can’t decide whether to shout at me for not giving them their dinner in a timely manner or enjoy the fact that they can stay out playing for longer. My rabbit has got his ‘hey lady, I’m not amused’ stare down to a fine art!

Picture the scene:
It's Christmas morning and everyone is blissfully asleep. Guinea pigs have been smuggled into the house past the dog because she's a bit dopey like that and she has no idea of what's in the next room. The guinea pigs, in turn, live in a flat next door to a house with two Rottweilers, so they're used to dog noises. All is calm.
I wake up at 5am and stick some headphones on, losing track of time. Jake, waiting for his breakfast, gets to 7am and realises that even though I'm in the room, he's not getting fed. Bear in mind, I have headphones on and can't hear jack about what's going on...so Jake gets very, very loud. The dog is asleep in the next room and hears this noise coming from my room and insists on warning everyone about the intruder in the house. Jake chooses to shout over the dog.

7.05 on Christmas morning and everyone is awake. Jake gets fed, we get the dog to (finally) shut up, everyone else is horrendously grumpy, and I'm trying not to laugh my head off about the whole thing because of course it's my fault for bringing the shrieking monster with me. Ah, holidays. Jake was great.
