Hi everyone, my guinea pigs are settling in nicely, still very jumpy and run away from me but getting better! I've had them for 2 weeks and are the cutest babies ever!

I was just wondering, from any seasoned guinea piggers, have you any stories about when you knew your piggie was happy and felt safe with you? I'm hoping I will have my own story soon...

Aww they sound perfectly normal;) they will let you know by purring when they are on your lap, it just takes time, some are quicker than others to settle in.

My Titch took quite some time as she wasn't handled before I got her she was as wild as a mouse but the thing she does now when I lean in their cage she comes out from her hidey running and jumping that makes me feel good x :)

Llewelyn was extremely nervous and skittish when he arrived as the new "husboar" of Dizzy's choice, right up to the point where I had to leave the room before he'd come out to eat. I knew the day that he started popcorning all over the living room in front of me that he had finally realised that paradise was his, and it was for keeps!
He'd been rescued from a run at a wildlife centre in Midwales that was shared by piggies, rabbit and chickens. Several of the rabbit babies were found with pecked out eyes. Llewelyn had half an ear missing, and always continued to make a dash for safety when he heard chickens on the tv !

After his old lady Dizzy's death, Llewelyn became the patriarch around which I built my Tribe.

My most recent piggie -only had him a few months- I was happy yesterday when I realised that he can have his back turned to me and I can lean over him and he doesn't run off or freeze like he used to.

Aww some lovely stories. Wiebke, that is so sad, your piggies must be overjoyed with you for being their saviour. I will never understand how people can neglect their wee animals so badly. Julesie and Silly, I reckon it'll take mine a few months, lots of cuddles and treats to get to that stage :) I can't wait until they are happy to see me!

Sometimes when I take my pig Boo out for cuddle time she will get very comfortable and completely flop over on her side so you can see her belly. It's the cutest thing ever :)
