Katie Tiger
Junior Guinea Pig
Well, tis all quiet this morning as the love bugs and OH catch up on some much needed sleep after an all night rave up last night.
I think we can say that Basil and Dilys have now christened their forever home in style.
Since arriving here they've rarely been seen or eaten preferring to cuddle up in the safety of their hidies. Basil decided last night enough was enough.
After I'd done a changeover of their bedding, cosies and tunnels, I put out a corn on the cob and some beans as Joanne advised me they are their favourites. About an hour later I went upstairs and found they'd dragged the corn and the plastic plate of beans halfway into their xl cosie.
We went to bed at around 10.30pm and put a bedside lamp on to watch them. Gavin happened to say hello and, with that, Basil looked in his direction and came outside. For the next hour he paced all over the cage obsessively sniffing everywhere (what does that mean?). He then decided he didn't like the clean cage and decided to do some 'adjusting'. At first Dilys was squealing at him presumably telling him to stop it and to get back inside...but then decided to join in.
They first had a tug of war with the corn, they then decided they didn't like the plastic top on top of they hay tray so, working together, pushed it off (Dilys pushed it over on top of Basil
) and then proceeded to drag it across the cage and then use it as a hidey.
For about an hour after that, they were chomping, doing circuits, cuddling and kissing in a hidey and then started all over again squealing.
I really wanted to take a video but didn't want to scare them.
I nodded off at one point exhausted watching them, to be woken at 4am with more of the same.
I've just been upstairs after taking our dog out and our bedroom looks like the aftermath of a student party. OH is hiding in his pit with the duvet all over, the cupids are laying on top of each other in their cosy, and their cage is a mess of food remnants, hay and tipped up hidies all over.
Good job we didn't have to be out early this morning!
I'm hoping this is the start of a beautful relationship together
