Thats the problem, I did the same thing yesterday and drove for an hour and a half only to find the shelter shut! You would think that would have told me to phone this one before I went today :red

T and T
2 rescue boars have just come into my possession from a pet shop in Rutland.

I've been looking at the Wood Green piggies too, T&T. I got Gwen from the Godmanchester shelter and three from Heydon in the past eighteen months.

At the moment I'm waiting on seeing what piggies are in the Peterborough rescue bunch. There are quite a few rescues/rescuers around this area.

i shouldn't of looked, i've fallen for Louis, Lucy and Lucky, though I dont have space and i'm too far away, but they are gorgeous rabbits!

Being treated for ringworm and can't be SEEN ? (He should certainly not have been handled because that is how ringworm is transmitted).

Personally I think it would have been useful - unless the pig was ill or stressed in some other way - for you to see what ringworm on a pig looks like so that you could recognise it if you saw it on another pig

What a strange way to treat a visitor who had made a reasonably long journey to the rescue. Obviously it is important to phone first if it is a private rescue at someones house but this wasn't the case. I would have thought that the 'opening hours' published on their website was an open invitation just to call in.

They told me to phone back in a week to see when he will be ready for rehoming. I havent even seen him in the flesh and am in love with him so am going to be disappointed if they rehome him elsewhere in the meantime. He is to be castrated after his ringworm treatment so dont know how long it will be before I can see him really. Its a bit of a journey from where I live but worth it if he comes to live here happily with my girls x)

You should be able to reserve him, the RSPCA allow that. I did that with Harvey bun last June. :)

I would liked to have helped out with a couple of the Peterborough bunch but they are too far away from me now. Its a shame as Peterborough is only 20 mins from me so its unfortunate I couldnt have nipped across there to help out

Wood Green can be a bit funny, in my experience. They wouldn't rehome piggies to me because I couldn't instantly guarantee to provide them with a 6 feet outside run, even though I wanted my piggies to live inside. As it happens, I then got my piggies from our vet nurse, who was perfectly happy with the accommodation we provided, and in time (i.e. when the weather was better) we did get a decent run for them to be outside.

Anyway, I hope they will agree to reserve this little chap for you as you've fallen for him.

I cant guarantee a 6ft outside run either 8... My husband is away at mo but will be back on Monday for a week and will be building an outside run for the piggies but mine live indoors in a C&C which is 60" x 30". Will just have to see what they say. Thanks Sue

They wouldn't rehome to me unless I had a 6x4ft run either. They were very impressed with my indoor setup, and the Heydon shelter didn't even ask about the run, but the Godmanchester bunch would not let me have Gwen until I had the run. They do sell them, I got mine for £30 second-hand off them.

I talked to them this morning and they mentioned the run but turns out they cant reserve Spice for me as he is quite poorly at mo and they dont know how long it will be before he will be ready for adoption. I have just picked up two sows that a woman was getting rid of in Derbyshire so will give my time and attention to them and look to adopting a boar in the future when hubby has sorted out my hutches ;)
