I brought the wedding forward (in secret) by half a day. 12 hours or so makes little difference as far as I can tell so Kingslie and Saffron met properly yesterday afternoon.

I have never had a problem with neutered males and females so naturally, I expected all to go well, especially as they seemed fine with each other through the bars, for so long too. Naturally, to maintain her reputation, Saffron has to make sure I'm proved wrong.

Kingslie has been jilted at the altar! (Or, to be more accurate - attacked at the altar!) :o

No blood drawn but Saff is taking mouthfuls of hair out of Kingslie, and he only has to look at her and she's teeth chattering, "yawning" ("See how big my teeth are........." ) and squaring up to him. Very not good.

To top it all off, efforts to pair him up with another group resulted in Delilah and Sophia fighting too, Delilah ended up with a cut lip.......

It was a long afternoon I can tell you.

More details coming soon once I can get my head around it, I DO have plans for Kingslie but Saffron....she may well end up being my first lone piggie.
 
Oh my goodness! Saffron may not be into boars? Or just not pigs?

Bo and Kid are yawning a lot, (the cheeky little brat), and I've seen blood in the cage twice since she came but never been able to locate who it came from!

I don't really have any advice, you being you, but I hope thing will turn out somehow for all pigs and people involved!

OUCH - that sounds like an afternoon of high drama and stage fights!

I am so sorry for you and for Kingslie! Not all older women do take to a man in their life - especially not the very dominant characters who do not like to lose control in any form or way - Saffron first of all. I hope that you can find the right girl for Kindslie amongst your squad of formidable ladies!

Oh what a pain!

I shall be hopefully bonding Duke, Dolly and Dotty on Monday afternoon, who knows how that will go with Dolly the Diva.

I wish you luck Laura with your plans, here's hoping they work out okay and everyone gets on - except maybe Saffron who sounds like she prefers to be alone.
 
Forgive me if I've missed something but is Saffron not living with Peggy?

I'm def nervous about my introduction now :))
 
You are right Joanne, I have missed updating you all here. Peggy is living with another poorly pig, they are inseparable. Saff wasn't quite respecting Peggy's need for closeness and comfort, just a bit too much for little Peg.

I just can't believe Saff won't take to Kingslie! A man of her own was her only option for company.
 
It does sound odd, I never heard of a mixed couple that didn't work... Can piggies have preferences too, like people, on what kind of men they prefer?

I've never had a problem with a neutered boar and sow not getting on either, but I guess it just goes to show nothing is certain! Poor boy, hope he didn't take it to heart :)

The only sows I've had that really haven't got on with anyone are sows who seem too 'testosterony' anyway - one even has a kind of grease spot, so my theory is she's not got the right hormonal balance. She's ok in the big group (as is Cuddles, my other killer pig!).

Hope you can work something out!

I had a young male - Billy Joe Asbo, he'd really earnt the ASBO. After a year of trying to find a male he liked - 17 no go pairings from the age of 4 weeks - I decided to have him neutered.

He treated the first 2 females he met after his confinement the same way - he just wanted to tear their faces off, until he met Princess Daisy, the most beautiful satin lavender, golden and white. Just one sniff was enough - it was love! He would follw her everywhere, lying next to her like a puppy, snuggling her every chance he had - and she loved it.

There's someone out there for everyone - it just takes finding them (applies to piggies just as much as people - at least I hope it does as I'm still looking!).

I do hope your piggies sort out their differences very soon, best of luck!

Oh dear, what a to-do. Poor Kingslie. Have you told Saffron what he had to go through just for her? Can you tell when she's in season- would that make a difference to how receptive she's feeling?

I'm sure you'll work something out that will make Kingslie happy. Maybe Saffron is just the Marlene Dietrich of the piggy world- 'I want to be alone'. :)
 
Saffron is like my Maddie (RIP). She lived alone after her Albie passed & Toddie (RIP) was alone too after one too many fights with other boys but Maddie seemed to fall in love with Toddie through the divide, the first pig she had shown an interest in since Albie had gone & i made the decision to have him neutered.
She hated living with him & whilst she didn't attack him, she did withdraw into herself & lost weight & so i separated them, she lived alone & thrived, Toddie got a harem of 5 girls.

I hope Kingslie now has his girl(s) & that Saffy is happy either on her own or with a friend :)
 
Thanks for asking Joanne. I tried him with Willa, and Willa took an instant dislike to him. Maybe its him - he's got too big an ego!

He and Saff are very happy as long as there is a divider between them so that's how things stand for now, they have each others company so not alone alone, they just have to have their own space.

Delilah and Sophia eventually settled their differences, Sophia dragged the tension out for a day though.

Niki, thanks for sharing Maddie's experiences, strange how they seem to really want the company yet when they're given it, it doesn't work out.
 
I hope Milo is very much liked, Maybe it's Kingslie no one likes him poor boy!

You need to tell us who's with who now, I get so confused :)).

Oh dear what a funny pair! Clearly they don't want a relationship to spoil their friendship. (from a distance of course!)
 
Oh dear! Poor Kingslie :( Sounds like they're happy with one another through the bars so at least they have company :)

I desperately hope my girls accept our Little Man :... Pixel is very interested in him, Pippa will have a look as she's passing, but Willow has plain ignored him so far! They've got a good few weeks to get to know each other til they meet properly though

I hope all works out with your piggies, Laura :)
 
Poor Kingslie! Saffron definitely sounds like a piggy who knows her own mind! It's a shame "Plan A" didn't work but I know you'll find the best solution all round....just hope you don't end up tearing your hair out in the process! x

To be fair, I don't see her totally as my own, even though she's staying here most likely for the rest of her life due to her medical needs. Peggy I do see as my own, but Nooshi - although she's welcomed into the family and is staying - her situation is slightly different.

Will keep trying with Saff and Kingslie but not holding out much hope. If it eventually works then good, if not, well all is still good, they are very happy as they are. Neutering him wasn't useless though, it does leave him with options, and he wouldn't have many of those here if he still had his youknowwhats. :))

Joanne, I will be keeping my fingers firmly crossed for your Milo and Bette - and Michelle for your Little Man and Pippa, Pixel and Willow - I really hope it'll go well for all of you. I'm sure it will! :)
 
I suppose I can manage one. I am building hospital cages tomorrow (hopefully) so will do a nice big thread in Photos for you all about Peggy and her new friend Nooshi and how they're heading up the hospital cages. Hows about that?

Me though, I'm off to feed some piggies then go sleep. Night night!
