Nothing is swollen or anything, it's just dry - like when friction rubs a layer of skin off parts of your hand or something.

I've gotta assume whatever is it that not being able to clean them out for a few weeks won't have helped, but I fixed that today. New clean run! And then they sulked at me because apparently I didn't put things back in exactly the right places.

So now I get to see if their foot pads go back to normal (the skin isn't broken either, it's just dry rather than cracked), and get the lap times back to normal. Comet spent his doing an amazing happy contented purr. Blitzen spent his being bribed with a blueberry. Go figure. But he did allow me to groom him today so clearly we're getting somewhere! Next job, getting his butt matt sorted out.

Heh, they didn't. This place is "self catering" (hah that makes it sound like I'm on holiday) and I don't live a great distance away. So I keep telling them I'm going shopping for food and popping home either on the way to Tesco or on the way back. It's not like they're going to know the difference, right?

I used to have a guinea pig with dry feet. We used to moisturise them with sudocrem.

And I've just noticed you're in Rochdale. I'm just down the road in Whitworth *waves*

I could try the Sudocrem, never thought of that. I'll have to remind myself to pick up a tub! And hiii! I know Whitworth, I'm so happy with myself. I'm...not a local, lol. Originally from Northern Ireland, been in England just over 3 years now.

Spike had a dry back foot when I used wood shavings as bedding . I used Gorgeous Guineas Kwench lotion twice and changed to fleece bedding, we've not had a problem since.

Gorgeous guineas do a wonderful product specifically for piggie feet - perfect paws lotion.
My lot have never suffered with dry feet (yet) but I got some to try, and Lucy and Eddi seem to quite like the occasional gentle foot massage.
Ruby on the other and hates it, and tries to bite me (so no surprises there).

I'm not either :) I'm originally from Nottingham but have lived here since 2006

I forgot about the perfect paws lotion from gorgeous guineas. I've used that too

Well, anything ordered online will need to wait til I'm home unfortunately, but since I know it isn't bothering them, at least it's not an urgent thing.

@Swissgreys is it bad that I laughed at the thought of Ruby being a terror? I think she reminds me of a mini Lorcán from many years ago lol, all bark and bite.

You know, I haven't seen the tubs of vaseline since I was in primary school and got into an unholy row with one of the teaching assistants (apparently I needed to use vaseline because my lips were so dry, and I refused, which meant I was being difficult. Or something). Do the jars/tubs/whatever even still get sold?

It is not bad at all.
Ruby is an awful guinea pig really.
She bites and is noisy, and doesn't really like anyone (human or guinea pig).
Except my eldest daughter.
She adores my daughter, and happily trots to the cage front to be picked up, and then sprawls across her lap and purrs in a contented fashion.
Of course if anyone dares to approach DD when Ruby is on her lap then she bites them or chatters angrily.
She is a horrible creature, and we love her with all our heart.

:lol!: anyone who tries to say guinea pigs have no personality clearly hasn't spent enough time around pigs. When I gave Blitzen his blueberry earlier he ate half of it then dropped the rest on my wrist. I had to try and fish it out one handed whilst he got really irritated - because I clearly took his treat from him! I'm pretty sure that's not how it works, little dude.

It's funny though, for all their squabbles, I suspect it'd kill him to be parted from Comet. When I arrived at my flat earlier and went to say hello, he was using Comet as a pillow. He really is all bark and no bite, lol. Unless you happen to be my right shoulder...

@Lorcan you are such a bad owner.
I can't believe you didn't hold his blueberry until he finished it! :))
Although at least you are feeding your guinea pig blueberries - don't tell Eddi.....

My lips are sealed! just don't tell Eddi I got the idea from him too lol
