That's us had our rehomed pair of piggies for almost three weeks and I think they're finally settling in. They're a wee bit over a year old and we got them when someone's kids had lost interest. I don't think they'd been properly handled in a while so they're still a bit skittish.

I've been giving them plenty of floor time but they don't like it but it means I don't stress them when I clean the cage out. In the past week I've been setting the pen up against the open cage & giving them hay etc out there. They've been popping over quite a lot and so they get there veggies in there.

Last night when OH and I were enjoying some catch up tv and a glass of wine the boys suddenly went mad, squeaking and popcorning and running in and out of the house leaping in and out of the cage and Sooty kept trying to move the log tunnel (Scrufty hates that, he always moves it back). It was lovely to watch and clear that they're happy, which is the main thing for me.

It's interesting getting to know their personalities, Scrufty is the boss despite being smaller and he rumbles trust a lot but Sooty ignores him. We jokingly call Sooty a thug because he likes to overturn the tunnel (by lifting his back while in it) and overturning the food dish (it's one of these that sits in the folded shape of the shelf). Today he emptied it and dragged it inside the house. Strange pigs.

Lovely piggies x it's quite common for piggies to feel vulnerable In open areas as they are prey creatures, so don't worry if they don't seem to enjoy wide open floor time at first. You could try putting some hides, tunnels, or cheap plastic step stools on the floor for them to run and hide under as that may make them feel more secure. It's a joy learning your piggies' personalities and temperaments. The dynamics of piggie life are fascinating and those first popcorns are priceless. Sounds like you are all going to have a lot of fun together.

You have 2 gorgeous boys there! I am guessing Sooty is the black one? Isn't it great when you start to se them zooming and popcorning and you realise that, even though they are still shy, they are really happy with you.

Enjoy them - this is just the beginning - their personalities will keep becoming more apparent as they get used to you!

So cute, thanks for sharing your pigtures. We have a little "Asbo-pig" too, he loves wrecking the place with that big butt of his and turning things upside down :)

Gorgeous

It sound like they are settling in and building their bond up with you really well. It is a wonderful time when they learn to trust you and you begin to get to see their pigsonalities start to come through. I never get tired of watching zoomies and popcorning.

Lol at Sooty! :)) He'll keep you on your toes. Looking forward to hearing lots more about them in the future on here.
