All the pics are lovely but my fave has to be the one of Elijah and Errol! It is gorgeous!
I love their new fleece =D

Lovely pictures Laura! All of you piggies are beautiful!

I adore the little stockings too! I think Pippa and Willow NEED some! lol! :))

Oh Audrey, I think your Ka would fit in the cage!

Kim, there are six pigs in the 5x4. I wouldn't go any smaller for them, but this size definitely works well for them. Your plans sound fine. :)

oh wow amazing cage set up and beautiful fleece I'm so tempted to throw all my furniture out and build my boys a massive cage :))

ps you can get little stocking in B&M or wilkinsons not as beautiful as lauras but just the right size for little animals

lovely Laura - i love Elijah and Errol too.

When you hoover it how do you make sure you don't such up the fleece too? I am sweeping as the hoover wants to suck up the fleece.:{

They are all so gorgeous, the stockings are great and so is the fleece thats so similar to mine lol,
Your piggy area looks great and so organised!
Meghan looks shy but so pretty,Dexter is a lazy pig and vert cute at that,Frankie did not even know you took a picture did he? lol i love his bright ginger colour,Saffron & Sophia are gorgeousx)x)x)
I must say that last picture of Elijah & Errol is divinedrool

They get on well together in their own groups, but don't socialise with the other groups (aside from living side by side and chatting through the bars). In short:

- Elijah and Errol are not neutered, so they have to stay well away from the girls.
- Frankie and Meghan - gorgeous "married" couple but Meghan will not share her man. She attacks all other pigs she's introduced to!
- Delilah and Sophia - Delilah is one of the pigs Meg attacked when I tried introducing them earlier this year. Since then, Delilah has very much adopted an "attack is the best form of defense", and as such she cannot be introduced to new pigs either.
- The big group (Dexter and five girls) took a lot of time and stress to get them all living happily together. There are some strong characters in there and it took a while to get the group to the stage where everyone tolerated each other enough to be left alone! They all get on very well now.

Lisa - I use a regular bagless cylinder vacuum cleaner, it is a powerful one...1600w I believe. I don't often have the problem of the hoover sucking up the fleece...why it doesn't happen much, I don't know, as I hear so much of other people having that trouble. I think part of it is the angle the hoover hose is held at - I lay it flat, or at no more than a 45 degree angle to the fleece. The fact that I can get into the cages helps as well, and I can't get especially close to the edge of the fleece - I usually just lift the edges up for a second so all the poops fall further into the cage so I can hoover without sucking the fleece up too.

It really, really annoys me when it does get sucked up though so I really feel so much for you!

Laura,

What a super set up -very lucky Piggies! Errol is the double of my Jeeves, I think they are brothers (adopted from Sophie). How do you manage to keep the cages free of hay? Jeeves has been indoors for a few weeks now, I change Jeeves' fleece every day and within five minutes he has hay everywhere!

Enjoy!
Nichola

Wow I am so jealous of your amazing set-up! It's fabulous - what lucky piggies! Plus I will be testing out the hoover angle to get the poops out - do you do it when the piggies are in their cages?

Hi Nichola, it's nice to 'meet' you! I saw a photo of your Jeeves and Wooster (so sorry to hear Wooster passed recently) on the GPRN website and questioned Sophie on whether it was my Elijah and Errol, they are *so* similar! Errol has a tiny smudge of red in with his white but other than that, I can't see much difference between him and Jeeves. I do so love the red and white shelties!

I have designated 'hay trays' built out of the correx that contain the hay very well, and 95% of their hay is contained in hay columns in there. I will get photos for you so you get a proper idea of the setup. The hay does still get on the fleece, but it's only a few strands that are easily removed. I know the feeling well though, when they spread a good handful of hay all over the fleece!

moola - I do hoover when the pigs are in the cage. They're beyond caring now, sometimes they'll dash away but usually they couldn't care less. Saffron was popcorning alongside the hoover hose this morning! It does surprise me as it's a proper hoover, 1600w I think so not very quiet and it's running a good 10 minutes to get all four separate cages tidied.

I absoloutly love your little gingerbread stockings on the piggy cages! how cute! where did you get them from? Great pics x

The stockings are from the Huntingdon Garden and Leisure Centre. :)

Got the photos of the hay trays as promised...just uploading them!

Ok, this is how the hay stays off the fleece...

Haytrays.jpg

Eahc cage has a hay tray. For the big (4x5) cage they have a 1x3 hay tray made out of correx. The lip (preventing the hay being dragged out too easily) is around 1.5 inches high.

For the three 2x5 cages, each has a 1x2 hay tray. These three hay trays don't have a lip on though - Frankie and Meghan nibbled their down to nothing (rolleyes), Elijah and Errol have a bigger floor space in their hay than the others instead of a lip, and I had to cut Delilah and Sophia's out due to Delilah's difficult mobility.

Even though there is no lip on these three hay trays, the hay barely drags onto the fleece as I keep 95% of the hay in the hay columns:

I find the columns preferable to the hay racks that sit above them - piggies got far too mucky when they pulled the hay down on top of themselves!

Wow @) I am not letting Jessie see your set up, she would pack up and leave. What lucky piggies and all so happy and comfy on their new bedding. x) they are so adorable. You are a wonderful piggy mummy and wonderful set up. Wow. :)

My piggies are furiously packing their cases:))
What a fantastic set-up, extremely lucky piggies :)

Gorgeous piggies and they look sooo happy, love the little stockings did you make them yourself. What a great idea with the left over grids, make hay mangers with them. I love to see what other people's set ups are like.
