It's here and set up. Very pleased with it and it's bigger than I expected, even though I had the measurements

Very basic set up for now as I'm picking up more stuff tomorrow when I collect the girls.

I will be adding some sort of litter to the trays then topping with lots of hay. I have a plush cave thing and 2 cuddle pouch things arriving (hopefully tomorrow) and I am also buying one of those big stripe cardboard tubes and a bendy stick bridge/cave. The loo rolls will be stuffed with hay and I will also buy a water bottle as my glass ones seem to have got lost in the post :mal:

So, what do you think?

If the girls are nervous to begin with I will cover one end of the cage with a blanket. Once they have settled in I plan on adding a loft area

It looks lovely.
Although it won't look like that for long :))
I think it all sounds fine, but there are a couple of small changes I would consider:
- I would definitely cover the cage at the end where the hay trays are. This will make them feel more secure (at least in the early days) and more likely to use them.
- I would remove the 3 'open' beds. They look nice but are unlikely to get used in the early days, and just take up floor space.
I would add at least one other covered house, and one of the tunnels as well. This will give them places to feel safe, but without them having to sleep together, and also make them more likley to explore the cage by going through the tunnels.

But other than that it all looks amazing - they are very lucky piggies indeed.

That looks fab! Can I move in? :D

I always cover half the cage for new arrivals, it's basically like a giant hidey and means they'll access food/water more readily :)

Thanks for the replies.

There will be a lot more houses, enough for each of them, just waiting for them to arrive in the post.

2 things I've now done. First I used 2 corner parts from my cats huge scratch tree. They've never been used. I didn't assemble them when I got the cat tree as one of my cats is fat and can't fit on them anyway :lol!: I fixed them to the cage using a few screws and some cable ties and they are really secure. I don't know if the pigs will climb on them by using the pink cardboard hide or they may need a little ramp on each but for now, they provide some cover over the tray area. Secondly, I covered that part of the cage with a fleece and made a large cardboard hide until my nice ones arrive.

So, still more to add tomorrow when they girls arrive but it's getting there:yahoo:

I think that is a cool idea, very creative, I would suggest adding a blanket or pad to the corner shelves as the carpet is likely to get peed on.

Good idea! Didn't think about pee protection! Will have to sort something for that

The selves will just be temporary as I'd like a bigger floor that covers the full width. I do have loads of thick MDF here but I think it will need cutting down. A job for my dad and his power tools!

Lovely

Hi, your cage looks ace and I love the use of the old cat tree in the corners! I may steal your idea! I have 2 new piggies, I have had them 4 weeks now and I (hope) they have settled well, I am constantly still looking for new ideas for their cages so all cage pictures I find really useful! I've attached a picture of my cage at the moment and I have a few other hideys and toys for them too, I try and mix up the toys for them, and I have loads of fleeces/pee pads/throws for the bottom of their cages, I find they do love snuggling down on the fleeces! I can't wait to see pics of your piggies when you get them xx

Well done! I think the new set up looks great, they will need lots of hideys to hide for those first few weeks as they try to adjust to their new environment. We like lots of piggie pics here lol so snap away when they are a little more settled and most of all enjoy your new little furry friends, they are such a delight.
