Just ordered a new laptop power lead. The old one finally succumbed to the multitude of rodent nibbles - the cost of having free range guinea pigs in the house. There was more electrical tape than original covering. Now seeking kevlar body armour for the laptop cables but not convinced that these would be impervious to the nibbles of Cosmos the devil pig. She could chew through chobham armour.

You could get some cable wrap, not entirely practical for a laptop cable but may offer a little protection. It's best to try and keep such things out of reach though, it would be awful if she got electrocuted chewing cables.

Charlie and Kenny had the lead to our hoover (not plugged in), went to plug it in and came away with the the plug in one hand and the lead in the other - they just bit straight through it. I mean I know they don't like the hoover but really. :))

Yep. I lost a phone cable and two lamp cables to my last free-ranger. Frankie and Marley are only allowed in the kitchen, away from all nibbling temptations. Jerry has free-range of downstairs, but has no interest in anything that's not piggy food.

:)) Piranha piggies!

I block off electrical wires from piggies. it up until a week ago worked.. they just see it as a challenge to find another way through.. recently, BonBon was a very lucky lady.. needless to say, I watched her even more like a hawk now.

Oh dear! Do be careful they're not plugged in though as I remember a horrid thread about a piggy that got electrocuted on here :(

Fortunately the cable they chewed was the one from the transformer to the laptop, hence amps and voltage would have been low if they had been on. Its mains you have to watch.
