Yup, an eye issue at my house, really!? Again!? :mal:
Apparently a cat with a grass seed stuck in her eye, two one-eyed beloved babies and a piggle blind from cataracts wasn’t enough in a decade!

My beautiful silver fox Luigi has started to get a clouding of the lens in his right eye, literally come on this week and I thought it was in my head at first! But this morning with a bit of sunshine I could really see :td:
He’s booked in for vets in the morning to double check but looks exactly like my Sheepy the alpaca’s when his first appeared, the other followed within a few weeks and then he was totally blind not long after.
Hoping his don’t deteriorate as quickly, he’s still a baby (to me!) at roughly 2, Sheepy was a year older. Blooming eyes!
My poor silver baby, he’ll be fine if he does have them, Sheepy coped amazingly, but I seem to have become a blinking eye expert (not by choice)!

I may have a little bit of favouritism so utterly smitten with my chunky freak, really hoping he’ll be ok bless him ❤❤

Just can’t believe eyes again!:yikes:

Thanks @Sweet Potato :)he’s not bothered in the slightest tucking in to his grub and bar biting for me! Just, aaargh! Eyes!

Jess had her eye out 3 weeks after I lost Pedro the chin (that I had lots of trouble with when he lost his eye), now lose my Jess and 2 months later Luigi wants to join the wonky eye party!

Poor Luigi. Betsy is completely blind now. She has cataracts but her eyes haven't turned white. If you saw her bimbling around doing bimbly piggy stuff you wouldn't realise she is as blind as a bat. The transition period between I can see to maybe I can see to I hope I can see to oooohhh no where is everything? was a bit traumatic for her but Dennis was with her the whole time acting as her guide pig. Now she copes so well, bless her. Sometimes she gets a bit spooked by being picked up if I forget to tell her first so she knows I'm there.

Thanks so much everyone :hug:Having such a hard time atm, OAP Daisy the cat in next week as walking a bit funny on her front legs, Jasper’s got his neutering on the 17th Nov, fishy issues (as always the last few months!) and I think I’m due for sectioning for my mental health the day after C&R at this rate!:mal::eek:

That’s lovely to hear thanks @Betsy, Sheepy was exactly the same and he had his guide pig with Reggie, it’s amazing how their friends step up to help! I’m used to letting my presence be known, with Jess being deaf and then one eyed, and with Pedro before her being more spooked with losing his.

I’m just already stressing with him and Aliona not really being close like S&R were, no idea how things will go! She’s not too fond of him too close, hopefully she’ll pick up on the vibes and realise he needs the help if he does! 🤦‍♀️

Thanks @Rivervixen :hug:Yeah isn’t it just! Start to question my care at times, hope it’s not me anyway, maybe Jasper should run now!
Aah bless Ozzy, think Jaspy would too, he’s like a stalker and likes to know what’s going on, leading to food, not a problem! :)) xx

Fingers all crossed for Luigi, hoping it’s not cataracts 🤞Hugs to you, you’ve had more than your fair share of eyes x

Luigi had his vet appointment this morning, nearly an hour wait for a 9.15 appt!

Sadly like I thought, he’s got cataracts in both eyes, the left’s nearly as bad as the right 😞
Can’t believe how quickly it’s come on, my poor beautiful chunky bum, so guessing his sight will be gone pretty soon.
He was a very good chap on the vet table, only a couple of kicks for the vet and no bites! :)) He’s just munched his veg and not too stressed after his prodding and poking bless him.
Just hope they don’t deteriorate too fast. He’s not even 2 so seems very unfair but as long as he’s happy that’s the main thing :luv:

Thanks for everyone’s lovely words and support, me and Luigi really appreciate it x

Thanks @Claire W, just like Sheepy, what a ! But just pleased it’s not something like my Ped, so hopefully no pain for my boy! Other than the bites and kicks I get for touching him! :)) xx

Poor little Luigi! At least he has a piggy mum who is very experienced with eyes! :hug:Sending you and Gigi a big hug!
Haha thanks Hope, well wish I wasn’t! You can hardly see unless there’s a light directly on top of his eye, hard to spot tbh, so at least having a bit of experience helped so we know what’s going on! Not that he cares, just happy in his hay pile at the min! My heart a bit sore though! Thank you! xx

You can clearly see the cataract fully formed. She still did the occasional zoomie ( she was about 5 here).
She also still wandered all over the place when out and always found her way home - guided by the smell of food!

Luigi will cope fine with his sight loss.
He does have a 5****** slave after all.
