new Piggie. I’m a sucker for a sob story. As you probably know, the love of my life Snowy passed some weeks ago. I know you don’t condone pet shop buying etc. My local pet centre boards animals and the intention was to enquire about boarding in the summer. (It’s not PaH btw) I came across Ringo who was 6 months old, had been returned twice due to being too ‘bitey’ with smaller kids. He was living alone, his penis was out due to some hair wrapped around it which I quickly sorted. I held him in my arms and he licked me on the cheek. I also noticed he had 2 extra toes. Anyway I put him back but did not sleep for 4 nights thinking about him and my elderly mother went and got him for me even though I felt it was too soon after Snowy and am still very raw about it. Anyway Ringo has now been neutered last Monday to live With my 2 sows Fudge and Zip. He has also had the extra toes removed. I didn’t pay anything for him as they knew he would be coming to a good home. Just wanted to share. It’s also been a year since I lost my 4 girls and I feel very low atm.

Ringo has landed on his feet with you.it is the best feeling when neutered boars meet there wives.ive just had two of my boars neutered yesterday, just the six week wait now,I'm sorry for your loss ,try and remember the happy moments.

Here’s a picture. Hes a cross breed and possibly inbred due to the extra toes but Ill give him love and a home

I just feel immense guilt for Snowy as it’s only been 4 weeks since he died. I wasn’t going to get any more piggies but mum said when Ringo kissed me it sealed our fate

Thank you for your kind comments. Maybe I shouldn’t have had a whole bottle of prosecco as it’s made me a tad emotional. I’ve been sitting by Snowys grave tonight. I loved him so much.

Don't feel guilty about getting another piggy. It doesn't mean you are over Snowy or love him or will think of him any less. Everyone copes in different ways but for me the best healer is to go out and find another to fill that empty space and take my mind off my loss to a certain degree. I have never felt guilty for doing this and it has always helped me in my grieving process. I have never lost a pig as I currently own my first two but over the years I have had to say goodbye to many much loved pets that have been like members of the family. They have broken my heart but the fact of having taken on a new pet (not replacement but a new addition to the family) helps me through :luv:

If it hadn't been for Snowy you wouldn't have found Ringo. Ringo is a lucky boy to have found you and you are lucky to have found him! Fancy your pet centre not checking his little willy. He was lucky that you checked it for him as he was most likely in pain poor thing. He knew he wanted you to be his new owner which is why he kissed your face. Piggies are not stupid and he knew that you would care for him properly. Ringo was just waiting for you to find him. It was obviously meant to be. Don't feel bad about Snowy. Think of it that he led you to Ringo as Snowy knows how much love you have to give piggies.

What a lucky boy handsome Ringo is.
Don’t feel guilty about him - he’s not a replacement for Snowy - he’s a successor because you have a tremendous capacity for loving.
Snowy will always hold a unique place in your heart as do Fudge and Zip.
Ringo will create his own place in your heart.
May you have many happy years with him

Aww I hope the boys feel better soon. Ringo struggled to eat for the first couple of days after surgery so I syringe fed him. He’s not keen on pellets much and I’m feeding him a mixture of burgess dual care and Harrington’s. he will only eat a small amount of veg too but eats a massive amount of hay! Big hugs to you and your boys xx

Ringo is so cute, I love agouti colouring. Your love for Ringo will be different to your love for Snowy, but no less for that. What a lucky boy Ringo is to have found a home with you. I find the animals that land with me when I'm not looking for them turn out to be very special bonds. Don't feel guilty, it was meant to be. X
