Betsy has lost weight. I weighed her on Monday and she'd lost 70g in 2 weeks and there were soft poops in the hutch. She was her normal feisty beautiful self so I thought it may just be a blip as she's had them in the past. I've stopped all veg. She is on only hay and pellets and recovery food with oats to try and sort out her tum and put a bit of weight back on. She has lost 71g since yesterday morning so something is going on. She usually maintains around 1034g. This morning she weighed in at 963g. I'll be making an appointment with the vet. Hopefully they'll be able to see her tomorrow. She is 6 at the end of January/beginning of February.

Hope Betsy is ok. My boys lose weight when I take them off veg. Hopefully it’s just that. 🤞
Sending healing vibes.

Hope it goes well at the vets for Betsy and there’s nothing to be concerned about x

Good luck at the vets Betsy. I hope it’s nothing too serious and you’re back to good health quickly!

I hope the Ever Beautiful Betsy will be okay.

Hope all is ok with beautiful Betsy! We have everything crossed here 🤞 💕

I weighed Betsy this morning and she is another 30g down on yesterday. Just goes to show you can't tell by eye how much hay they eat. Everytime I see her she is stuffing her face with hay. She had SS Recovery food with carrots and oats this morning. This time I had her out on a folded blanket the table to have it while I was having my breakfast. (She may have had an special treat of a blueberry too.) Meg loves the stuff and pushes Betsy out of the way and eats most of it for herself.

Hope the Spanish doc can get to the bottom of it. Was Meg standing at the grids and begging? 😁

Get your vet to check for a urethral stone. I’ve had this sort of weight loss with a piggy and Simon discovered a urethral stone. He popped it out, amid lots of squealing from piggy, but once it was out, the weight slowly increased again.

Also get the vet to feel for a goitre in neck. Just wondering if the weight loss is due to hyperthyroidism. This can be controlled with the drug Thyronorm.

Sending you big hugs and positive vibes! We all have our fingers and toe beans crossed for you!
