The first Tribal videos!

I have taken the plunge with my new camera and taken a couple of videos of the pellet line up.

Here is the Tribe line up at crunchies time - eventually, they are all out, if not completely lined up...



This is Ffowlyn and her very distinctive way of eating pellets:

That is so cute! Nearly a line up, I love that Ceri had to be centre of attention and try each bowl, don't want to miss out on anything!
 
hahaha... Ceri''s such a tramp! stealing food off every one else! Well done Cariad for telling her to butt off!

I also loved the domino effect when Nerys decided to moved to her right... really cute!

Ffowlyn, what are you doing? that's got to be uncomfortable, surely!

Honestly, I have a bit of a canundrum... I'd have to take them all, I couldn't just pignap one, or 2 or 3... Do you think OH would notice a spare 9 piggies? rolleyesrolleyesrolleyes

No sow in season? It can be a right madhouse at times! I will try and catch a bit when that happens...

I have been careful not to add any overly dominant sows to the tribe and they have the whole living room to roam in throughout the day; so generally, they are just happy little piggies living as closely in accordance with their group instincts as I can provide!

And yes, they ARE a real, well knitted group - there is a difference from when you just have a pair. I've had just two piggies in varying partnerships for the first five years and several during my childhood. Groups are fascinating because the interplay is so intricate. If you look closely, you will notice that Ceri will share the bowl only with other junior sows, never with one of the top ones! :))

how fascinating! I'd never thought that... Mind, when we got Finlay, back in the days, Bertie acted as a father figure but as soon as Finlay hit puberty he became very obviously top pig, but all naturally and without fuss (well apart from him raping poor Bertie that one night...) rolleyes

Hooray, we can see the Tribe in motion! Lovely videos, I thoroughly enjoyed watching them all. Ffowlyn does make me smile.
 
Aww fab videos, I loved the one of Ffowlyn just plonking herself into the bowl!

I know what you mean about seeing the little quirks that develop having a group. Though we only have 5 we have that as well, Athena is not top pig but seems to be the "mammy" of the group. She never rumbles, she's extremely laid back yet no-one hassles her or rumbles at her etc They have tiffs between them but none have ever had a go at her. Most of the time she'll go unchallenged for food or the water bottle, infact often others will move away without her having to do anything! I don't think we have an overly dominant pig either, there's not really one I could pick out and say she's top pig ( though I definitely know Sam isn't top pig, he's a wimp! )
 
Fab to see the UN-Pig in action, even if it was during dinner break time.

With Ceri this side, it looks as if she is conducting the UN-Pig choirxoxo

It's interesting how the piggies take on different roles in a group, isn't it? Nia is my top sow, but Taffy is my "mum" of the tribe who is rarely involved in any disputes, but universally respected. Nerys is the grump and tank of the tribe - but even she will think twice about giving Taffy one of her infamous nips! Ffowlyn is my little trouble maker... ;)

Loved seeing a film of the tribe moving about and eating! They are so well behaved. I could watch piggie behaviour in groups and alone for hours!:)

I forgot to say how beautiful they all are!
