its just like cutting and other persons fur. Make sure you do not cut too off at this time of year - i keep my piggies fur long at this time to keep them warm, and i trim their fur so its not dragging on the floor or anything.
Make sure you groom them first before cuttting and make sure you cut small clumps as this can pull on their fur and hurt them - also make sure scissors are always sharp as this can do the same thing.
