Red Star
Junior Guinea Pig
Hi guys! Thought I'd share some pictures of the herd here. Chewbacca and Han Solo are our newest additions. They're in one cage together, while Agent Nibbles, the elder, is in a separate cage.
The youngest, at 2 months old, is Chewbacca:
He is a BIG FAN of hay. He's eaten SO MUCH OF IT in the last few days. More than both of the other piggies combined:
Up next at 4 months or so is Han Solo! He's EXTREMELY skittish, even more so than Chewy. He's very pretty though! He enjoys hiding behind or inside their igloo more than anything. This is the best picture of him that I've managed:
Last but certainly not least, is Agent Nibbles. He will be turning 6 this year. I adopted him from the Marin Humane Society a few months ago. The volunteers there were extremely surprised that I would want an older guinea pig. We took him and his then-cagemate Mop home with us. Unfortunately, Mop had a pre-existing skin infection that turned out much worse than originally thought. The vets did what they could be he ended up passing away. Agent Nibbles is still going strong though! Pining a little for his bonded mate, but we're hoping Chewy and Han can cheer him up a little.
We actually think he might be part turtle. He is not terribly interested in leaving his igloo most days! He's very cuddly though and accepts pets and being held. He has nooo interest in exercise, though (free day on the bathroom floor resulted in terrified, frozen stares, each time we tried it).
Here's a picture of the now-deceased Mop, for those curious. He was quite a character! Showed no weakness until the very end:
