George P and George R had their first bath last night, which was...an interesting experience. I thought it would be really odd washing a peruvian as i have never bathed a long haired guinea pig before but it was actually more odd bathing the rex.

Then they got dried with the hair dryer, which i was thinking might have been scary for them but they didnt seem to mind at all

Both guineas enjoyed the pampering which is good as it will have to become a more regular occurance for George P

However I was really stupid and had knocked the shampoo bottle (a trial size one from Gorgeous Guineas) over whilst i was rinsing it off. So i'll have to buy some more

I done the exact same thing with a bottle of shampoo from GG. Although, it got knocked over when my piggy suddenly leapt from the sink and made a bid for freedom..

They generally aren't too keen on baths but they do need them! It can be done in bath or sink - I find bath safest as mine all try to climb on back of the sink. You don't put them in too much water as they get frightened only usually poor water over them rather than having them "in" water!

I use a large tub (like what you'd use to bathe newborn babies) for my piggies. This goes on the floor of my shower, and I use a smaller tub to pour clean water when rinsing them. This way, if my piggies try to struggle out of the tub, there's no way they'd get hurt.

Soapy, slippery, struggling piggies in a sink is not safe

That's a new tongue twister - Try saying it 3 times! :)p

sorry benjer i took over your thread! thanks,i never knew you could bath them before only ever wiped down my last pigs
