The Great Hay Experiment!

We had a great time on Sunday afternoon trying out the taster selection pack from the hay experts. My 4 girls took their job very seriously and did a good job of ranking their favourites! I took some funny photos of the girls hard at work which I've posted to my facebook page here:

The results were:

1st readigrass
2nd timothy hay
joint 3rd hay & nettle and oat wheat & barley
5th pure pastures meadow hay
6th orchard grass

Its not a very economical way of buying hay but it is a lot of fun! :))
 
What a lovely lot you got and what a good experiment.It looked as though they definately took it all very seriously!.Beautiful photos.
 
Thank you - they did take it very seriously although how do you reward them for their hard work when they've just spent 2 hours at an "all you can eat" hay buffet?

The results are at the top of the page :)

I weighed 6g of each hay and put them on separate plates. 6g doesn't sound a lot but hay is very light! I then gave them a couple of hours to 'taste test' and compare notes (a bit like the food critics round in Masterchef). After the food critics had all fallen asleep, I weighed what was left of each hay! Apart from the readigrass - there wasn't any left to weigh!

Thanks so much! I shared a BIG album of my pics on facebook recently. I put all my favourite pics in one album. I think if I shared that on the forum I might break it!

Perhaps you could do say a couple of different threads, with just a few pigtures in each........ i'm sure many many of us would LURVE that x)
