My vet Ellie Whitehead is starting a dedicated piggy clinic at Derwent valley vets in Matlock opening Tuesday 6th November.

She is an amazing vet and a lovely person. Please check out her website and like her Facebook page.
I can't recommend her enough

I think this is the same vet that my vet Kiri spoke to about Merab.
It was Ellie who warned that it might not be as simple as just ovarian cysts so that was a big help in deciding treatment and also in being prepared for the possibility of a less than happy outcome.
Kiri found her very helpful.
Hope her new clinic goes well

I've just liked the Facebook page and will be bookmarking the website, thats not to far from us at all god forbid the boys should need it

I visited the clinic this week. It's a lovely surgery and the staff are very friendly.
Ellie saw 2 of my piggies, Harry, who was diagnosed with a jaw abscess and Mrs Simpson who sadly has liver disease.
Ellie saw them in 15 minute appointments so there was lots of time to discuss their care. Plus they were photographed to go on the Facebook page! This is the lovely Mrs S, she is such a character

Mrs S looks a handful with that cheeky look!
She certainly is. As you may have guessed she lost her Edward (@nicky) earlier in the year. I tried her with various beau's (including Scrapper) but she rejected them all. My friends boar, Harry, was bereaved and needed a friend so l tried him with Mrs S. Love at first sight!
She was obviously waiting for a boy with a suitably royal name!

Excellent to know. Just over an hour away from me but then Simon maddock is a similar distance so it's always worth having options

I can second this! Given Jess' issues, for their benefit and my peace of mind I took my remaining two guinea pigs Stanley and Primrose for health checks with Ellie on Thursday. Thankfully they were both given a clean bill of health. (And Stanley is probably younger than previously thought which explains why he's still so titchy!) Good to have a piggy savvy vet within reasonable distance and I was also impressed with Derwent Valley Vets - nice, spacious waiting room so we could sit away from the dogs!

I've got Reuben booked in for a check up . Thankfully, he is doing well at the moment - but he has had more than his fair share of health problems and it is so nice to have a vet within reasonable travelling distance who has a specialist interest in Guinea pigs.
