Hello! Welcome to my herd thread.

Today I brought home two lovely piggies called Bubblegum and Blossom and officially founded Leaf Hall - Home of Elegant Pigs.

They came from the local rescue, but apparently had quite a happy life before coming there! As of today, they are both 1 year old but their birthday is the 21st of March, so they'll be 2 very soon!

They're settling in well at Leaf Hall, they're walking around, eating a lot & have even taken a bit of hay from my hand! Excited to document the adventures to come. I'm sure they'd love to introduce themselves to you all if they weren't so busy being majestic and eating everything I own, but I suppose I'll do it for them. ;)

Majestic floofs...

Hello beautiful piggies. They're amazing.

I also have a Blossom 😊 Her very overbearing sister is named Willow 😂

Oh what a beautiful pair of little ladies, welcome Bubblegum and Blossom and good on you for supporting a rescue and taking them in 😊

Love the name Leaf Hall.
It sounds very grand and very appropriate for 2 such beautiful piggies

Day 2 at Leaf Hall has been a rollercoaster!

Bubblegum & Blossom were intrigued to hear that there were other guinea pigs living in homes with fancy names, I'm sure they'd love to come for afternoon tea sometime.

Today started with some slightly confused, but still very excited wheeking when I came into the room. They already know I am the food bearer! Hay was replenished, water filled, pellets put down. They're not very interested in the pellets but they dove into their fresh hay with great gusto. I then had a battle trying to sweep the fleece, it was stupidly difficult but I don't want to scare them with the handheld hoover.

The girls spent their day doing what pigs do best, munching and hiding. They both took lettuce from my hand and they're getting more comfortable with me. Bubblegum is far more enthusiastic and friendly, poor Blossom still seems a little moody and fearful.

Then I went to the greengrocers and got a HUGE bag of unwanted fruit and veg. It was a mountain of strangely shaped carrots, parsnips & broccoli. I thought the girls would be thrilled but, well, they weren't. They only wanted lettuce, kale and a bit of carrot. They ate the big fluffy carrot tops too, but turned their noses up at the broccoli and parsnip.

After this, we did a little bit of renovation. Leaf hall was extended by a few grids, and this meant moving a few things around. The pigs were not happy. It's the most terrified I've ever seen them, they were so stressed that they even had a bit of a squabble :(

Eventually, they hid in their hay corner snuggled up close and calmed themselves down.

They're safer squished up together! (note all the rejected veg 🙄)

Once things were a bit calmer, I sorted the fleece out and cleaned up the cage a little before leaving them in peace! Poor pigs, what a crazy few days they've had. Hopefully they continue to increase their trust in me and we can strengthen our bond more tomorrow. :)

The goblins agree on parsnips. Evil things, like coriander and asparagus. It's always worth trying them with new foods occasionally though, even a guinea pig's diet can get boring and it gives them something else to do (or ignore, or scream at you because it's Evil).

Quick little update to say that the girls are settling in really well and are surprisingly friendly! Both will eat from my hands, and Blossom is happy to have an occassional head scritch when she's in the mood for it. I suppose that's the benefit of rescue piggies, they're far more used to humans! Next hurdle: Lap time...

Today was the girlies second birthday!

To celebrate, my partner made them this incredible birthday veggie spread!

We also got them each a big grass ball for them to play with/munch & they were a hit! They did have one each but decided that sharing nicely was a very birthday thing to do.
